Qualifications
• Lead Estimator in charge off as many as seven other estimators on projects ranging in size to $385,000,000. Responsibilities include review of all construction documents; assign scopes to other estimators; site visits; attend and in some cases run preconstruction meetings with the owner, architect, and engineers; constructability analysis; value engineering; preconstruction scheduling; subcontractor solicitation; preparation of RFP’s for subcontractors; review and pricing takeoffs for both self perform and sub trades; mentoring and training of younger estimators; preparation of general conditions, hoisting, and general requirements; final assembly of all estimates; and presentation to the owners.
• Estimate types managed include Rough Order of Magnitude; Conceptual; Preliminary; 50%Design Development; Final GMP estimates; and Lump Sum Competitive Bids for both the Private Sector and Governmental Agencies.
• Project delivery systems for these estimates have included several hundred Competitive Bids; Design Build including for the Corps of Engineers; Construction Manager at Risk; Design Assist negotiated with a GMP or Lump Sum contract; and Negotiated Lump Sum from completed construction documents.
• Lead estimator on projects types including High Rise Hotels; High Rise Condos and Time Shares; Convention and Mixed Use facilities; Performing Arts Theaters; Hospitals and Medical Office Buildings; Schools; Gymnasiums; Distributions Centers; Casinos; Parking Structures; Office Buildings; Renovations of occupied Buildings; High End Restaurants; Prisons; Waste Water Treatments; University Buildings; Ski Lodge; Retail Facilities; Grocery Stores; HUD Housing; Churches; Seismic Upgrades; and Dormitories.
Accomplishments
• Have almost always taken on the larger more complex projects for firms and in at least three occasions, these projects have turned the largest profit for a single job in the firms history.
• Through Systems Analysis efforts, clients have saved millions of dollars including $7,000,000 on a structural system analysis; $3,500,000 on another structural analysis; $8,000,000 on mechanical systems analysis; and $11,000,000 on exterior wall system analysis on a high rise project. Smaller amounts have been saved utilizing the same process on several other projects.
• The careers of several people have been enhanced through training and mentor efforts and in at least one case has advance to Chief Estimator for a substantial general contractor. Several others have gone on the be successful Estimators and Project Managers.
• Being pro-active and working with architects and owners to solve potential problems during the design phase has save not only money on initial contracts, but has saved time and disagreements later during construction.

Lead hard bids; assist team in preparation of RFQ’s and RFP’s for Construction Manager at Risk projects; prepare conceptual and final estimates for all projects; prepare self perform takeoffs and price; attend owner meetings for preconstruction; solicit subcontractors; analyze sub quotes and select subs to be used; make site visits and attend pre-bid meetings; and update historical costs.
Prior to 1993 Project Manager, Estimator, and Superintendent
Grew up in a family owned construction company and was given the opportunity to do everything from digging ditches to Superintendent and PM to Estimator. The company built schools, Office Buildings, Dormitories, Hospitals, Performing Arts Theaters, and Retail Facilities through out the state of Texas. The experiences gained here have been invaluable.
