Graduate Research Scholar May 2007-Present
Flexural Behavior of Side-By-Side Box-Beam Bridges
Funding Agency: United States Department of Transportation (USDOT)
Experimental and analytical testing of corrosion-free side-by-side box-beam bridge model reinforced and prestressed with Carbon Fiber Composite Cable (CFCC). The results obtained were then compared to a bridge model reinforced with steel strands. Major highlights of the project are:
• Analysis, design, construction and testing of side-by-side box-beam bridge model. Four box-beams were connected to each other by transverse post-tensioning forces, shear-key and deck slab to integrate into one bridge model
• Bridge model was subjected to strain distribution test, load distribution test and ultimate strength test
• A finite element analysis of the bridge model was conducted using ABAQUS 6.7.5 and the ultimate load carrying capacity of the finite element bridge model was in close agreement with the experimental results
