September 15, 2005-
Owner, operator, Taskmasters, LLC, general contractor, Slidell, Louisiana
Specializing in disaster relief. Hit the ground running a month after hurricane Katrina, first as a volunteer, later to become a reputable residential contractor, presently doing work for the Make it Right Foundation, headed up by Brad Pitt and associates.
1994-2005
Patterson Construction Company, Beaufort, South Carolina
Superintendent for the construction of commercial, multi-family and large residential projects. From the original survey and the pulling of permits, I was responsible for the budget, acquisition of materials, hiring, firing, and payment of sub-contractors, as well as the appeasement of inspectors. Working primarily for the well-to-do, this position equipped me with the diplomatic skills that I had previously not brought to bear.
During this period, I had a wife die from cancer, raised my 13 year old daughter on my own, and upon her marriage opted to move to New Orleans to do something philanthropic.
1978-1993
W. E. Tulluck Corporation, Orangeburg, South Carolina
Superintendent for large commercial projects, to include: school at the Michelin plant in Gaston, South Carolina, laboratory at Ethyl Chemical Corporation in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and multiple unique commercial projects in between.
This position basically took my limited general knowledge from the Corps of Engineers (U. S. Army), and helped me to develop my eagerness to learn into a well-rounded commercial manager. From concrete projects with unique specifications due to toxicity and multi-storied steel structures, Tulluck provided me with an otherwise unobtainable education. Mr. Tulluck Sr. died and the company was liquidated.
1974-1978
Houdialle, Duvall, Jacksonville, Florida
Form carpenter at Port Canaveral, Florida. Here I learned the basic knowledge of commercial concrete forming, steel tying, etc.
Education:
Cocoa High School Class of ‘70
Low Country Technical College 1996-1998 (general academics)
Military service: U. S. Army 1970-1974, Specialist 5, senior crane operator (62f30), graduate of leadership school, Viet Nam veteran, honorable discharge
