Private Contractor Wendell Adkinson. Worked as carpenter’s helper on PAX River Naval Air Base erecting pre-fab housing.
Private Contractor Mark Mahoney. Worked as a carpenter’s helper building decks, removing and installing exterior doors, interior remodeling, and hard scaping.
Aug 2007 – May 2009 Alexander Homes Inc. (21697 Great Mills Lane, Lexington Park, MD 20653). Primary responsibility included installation of hardwood, laminate, and ceramic tile flooring. Worked as a helper with home remodeling including but not limited to: setting and changing doors and windows, installing trim, hanging cabinets, installing tubs and sinks, building decks and setting handrails.
Aug 2005 – Aug 2007 Sailing Specialties Inc. (43985 Commerce Ave, Hollywood, MD 20636). Responsible for supplying the grinding room and panel saw personnel with daily production needs. Pulled and delivered designated molds for scheduled production runs. Picked up and put away molds at the end of runs; organized mold warehouse, assisted formers with the setup of their machines (including programming of the machine, picking up kitted materials for the run and setting up the cell area). Backup lead for delivering plastic to machines, receiving plastic shipments, loading and unloading plastic drying ovens, and pulling and restock plastic resources. Assigned to panel saw area including checking the production board for daily run schedules of plastic to be cut for forming machines, filling out the plastic pulling and cutting list, checking with production supervisor for additional plastic needs to make up run loses. Assisted the Lean Department with varied production improvement projects for the plant, milling new end blocks for the forming machines, improving processes and area setup of the panel saw and grinding rooms and training new personnel.
Sept 2003 – June 2005 FNR Flooring. Supervisor of flooring crew. Duties included ensuring all materials and tools were on site and all workers understood their responsibilities to complete the day’s work schedule. Drove crew, materials and tools to job sites. Assisted to loading tools and materials, prepped the job site, performed demolition prior to flooring, swept and made the sub-floor suitable for new flooring to be installed. When job was completed, I ensured that proper cleanup of site was completed, as well as an accurate count and storage of tools and proper disposal of trash.
Jan 2000 – Jul 2000 FNR Flooring. Helped install VCT tile, vinyl, and wood flooring. Duties included: loading tools and materials for the day’s job as well as transport personnel to job site. Duties included: demolition and preparation of floors, spreading glue, laying the flooring materials, cutting into walls, cutting and installing shoe molding, disposal of waste materials and ensuring all tools and materials were loaded into truck at the end of the job.
Feb 2003 – Sept 2003 Target. Responsibilities included setting up the line in preparation of unloading the night’s truck deliveries, pulling pallets onto the floor and placing them in the correct areas and stocking the merchandise in the correct locations on the shelves. Other duties included working on LRT and back stocking bulk merchandise into the correct storage locations and pulling bulk back stock for placement on the sales floor.
Oct 2000 – Oct 2002 U.S. Army. Two years as a 63S (Heavy Wheel Vehicle Mechanic). Responsibilities included inspecting vehicles for faults, ordering parts, filling out of proper forms, and installation of new vehicle parts.
Aug 1999 – Oct 1999 Wal-Mart. Assigned to sporting goods as a Customer Service Specialist. Duties included: maintaining stock on shelves and appearance of merchandise, handling of keys for locked merchandise, and using and counting down of sporting goods register.
May 1999 – Aug 1999 Virtual Staffing Services (Lexington Park, MD 20653).
July 1999 – Assigned Temp for GMI. Duties included loading three semi-trucks of modular office furniture and related equipment. Unpacking and assembling the furniture which included: installation of lights, work surfaces, filing cabinets, upper storage compartments with raising doors, and ultimately positioning the completed work stations in their permanent positions. Participated in the final clean up and removal of three truck loads of debris.
May – June 1999 – Assigned Temp for S. Maryland Trophy and Plaque. Duties included the assembly of trophies and plaques designed per specific customer requirements. Assembled components for each job assembled the multiple layers required, and completed the name/award plates through the use of a supplemental heat press. As each item was completed, performed quality assurance, double checked against original order requirement, and assisted customers by carrying trophies and plaques to their vehicles, as well as cleaning the shop.
Feb – April 1999 – Assigned Temp for The Ink Company. Worked in the areas of shipping, mixing, and production of ink for distribution to the customers. In LCP (production) my duties included preparing the bins by using kwik-dry and wiping the dust and ink from the top of the bin to the bottom as well as the fitting and cap after pumping. During the mixing process, I made various additions to the ink to make it usable in presses, drew and delivered samples for the lab, and changed filters in the pumps for better grind. I also pumped ink into bins, drums, and kits. For shipping, I labeled and painted the bins in preparation for delivery to the customer.
Sept 1998 – Dec 1998 The Greenery (Hollywood, MD). Landscaper. After identifying the day’s work requirements for any current job, I pulled the necessary plants and trees from the nursery and loaded onto the trucks. Once at the job site, I unloaded the trucks, and prepared the bed plot. Following the foreman’s direction, I prepared the soil with conditioners and cut defining edges for the bed. I dug holes and planted the bed according to a predetermined landscape design. Was responsible for watering, adding plant starter, fertilizer and add mulch. Helped with the finishing dress of mulch and tamp the edge each bed. At the end of each job reloaded the trucks and left areas neat and debris free. Experienced with and have driven 8-ton trucks for the various jobs.
