Work History
December 1998 to December 31, 2009: City of Cleveland, TN as City Mechanical Inspector. Certified through ICC (International Code Council) and the State of Tennessee for Mechanical Plans Examiner, Plumbing Plans Examiner, Mechanical Inspections, Plumbing Inspections, and Building Inspections,. Also completed and passed the Energy Star Inspector course. Started the Mechanical Inspection program in Cleveland. Duties include setting up the licensing qualifications for contractors, having classes explaining the codes to be followed, and performing all mechanical inspections of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration of new or replacement equipment. I also approved mechanical plans as they came into the City of Cleveland and filled in as necessary for the plumbing and building inspectors when they were on vacation or absent from work. During this time I set up the first computer usable permit program for the City using The Southern Building Code BDS permit program.
Reason for leaving: offered an early retirement package.

August 1998 to May 2007 Cleveland State Community College: I set-up and taught the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration I and II courses, wrote my own tests and study plans. The first semester also included the EPA certification for which I was a Mainstream Proctor. Control and electrical troubleshooting of units took up most of the second semester. During this time I also taught the Limited License Contractor Course on several weekends at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville from 2000 to 2003.

As an additional note to my teaching I taught a 7 credit hour (CU) mechanical course at the Tennessee Building Officials Association Annual Conference in Memphis in 2009 and some 2 and 4 hour CU courses for other organizations.
From 1995 to 1998 worked for 3 different trucking companies; Roadrunner out of Indianapolis Indiana, Rapid Freight of Texas out of Pflugerville, Texas, and Timely Transportation out of Atlanta Georgia (all three no longer exist) as a team coast to coast driver and in 1998 as a truck dispatcher for Timely Transportation.
June 1993 to August 1995 I was manager of collections at the Bradley Factor (now closed), and worked as a Loan Originator at two mortgage companies Paragon Mortgage and Scenic Mortgage, (both closed).
From 1991 to 1993 Textron in Athens Tennessee (no longer in business) as a class A-1 maintenance mechanic. My duties were to keep the equipment running through maintenance and preventative maintenance. The equipment included, high pressure extrusion molding, die-cast units, robot cutters, electric fork lift and other lift equipment, as well as paint line and other conveyor systems. The equipment required a good working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, robotics, high pressure systems, and welding.
From 1989 to 1993 Georgia Pacific in Cleveland, TN as a maintenance mechanic. My duties were to keep the equipment running through maintenance and preventative maintenance. The equipment included the corrugator, cut and print machines, and conveyor systems. The job required a good working knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, and PC controls and also included electric fork truck repair and welding.
From 1988 to 1989 Queen Carpet in Dalton, Georgia as night shift electrician.
1976 to 1988 member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 25 in Rock Island, Illinois. During this time I worked for Hilgenburg Plumbing and Heating, and Mechanical Systems Incorporated (MSI) both in Galesburg Illinois, as the HVAC & R Service Technician, and at Bornhoft Heating and Air Conditioning in East Moline Illinois. Experienced in all types of systems including but not limited to residential, commercial and industrial coal, gas, oil, electric, solar and ground source forced air as well has high pressure and low pressure boilers, was considered by Local 25 as a control specialist. During slow times I also worked at the Cordova Nuclear Power House for several different contractors during shut downs.
From 1972 to 1976 I worked for a few non-union shops in Illinois and for St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport Iowa.
