Objective:
I have recently relocated back to California after working on the road for a number of
years, and I am seeking employment with a good company which will allow me to
further develop my career.
Work History:
Smith Dressler Electrical Services Marlow, Ok
February 2009 Journeyman Electrician/ Job Foreman
To
September 2009 Most recently I was the sole person in charge of a large commercial remodel in Tyler,
Texas lasting for nearly five months that was in excess of a $300.000 project. It was my
responsibility to hire and maintain a workforce, order all material and equipment,
schedule all daily work with my personnel and other subcontractors, and submit RFI’s
and receive inspections.
Prior to that, I assisted in the building of 3 brand new pharmacies from the ground up in
Oklahoma. Projects included everything from the underground to installing equipment
in panel rooms, as well as running conduit and pulling wire.
November 2007 Beaumont Electric Beaumont, CA
TO Journeyman Electrician/Foreman
December 2008
At Beaumont Electric they specialize in a lot of city and state projects
that are both new and maintenance based. In my time spent there I was promoted to project
foreman in less than six months, and was in charge of maintaining a company truck and directing 1
to 3 other men daily. I supervised over several segments of the new city-wide street lighting
projects for the city of Beaumont. This included everything from underground
circuitry to installing meter bases and standing 30 foot street lights by crane.
Several projects I was a part of included several spec. projects for the city, such as new
schools and a community center in the heard of town in which all circuitry was done in
block work or concrete tilt up walls.
Other duties included trouble shooting and maintaining various electrical needs
throughout the city of Beaumont and beyond, whether it be streetlight maintenance or
installing new panels in the city Police Department for their emergency operating
systems.
July 2005 RS Services Duncan, OK
To Apprentice Electrician
November 2007
Traveling to several states such as Oklahoma, Arizona, Nevada and Louisiana; I did
work on various commercial projects that the company contracted that included new
buildings and remodels. The majority of them were large commercial buildings such as
Walmarts and Sam’s Clubs that had very specific work details for most items.
In New Orleans, LA I was a foreman for a project on the West Bank that was contracted
for nearly $250,000 before change orders. I was responsible for scheduling work,
ordering material, maintaining time sheets, conducting safety meetings, distributing
paychecks and maintaining company vehicles.
April 2004 Pride Electric Edmond, Ok
To Apprentice Electrician
June 2005
Pride Electric had a contract to with Oklahoma State University to renovate their
football stadium. I did a lot of work with large sized ridgid conduit and worked in
conjunction with brick masons on a nearly 300 foot structure because all electrical work
on the premises was contained in block walls.
January 2003 Baxter Electric Edmond, Ok
To Apprentice Electrician
March 2004
I was interested in learning all aspects of the electrical trade, so I went to work for
Baxter for a while because they dealt primarily in residential work. There I learned the
in and outs of residential home building. I also worked on several small commercial
jobs such as a local bank and a strip mall.
January 2001 Waddell Electric Guthrie, Ok
To Apprentice Electrician
December 2003
I worked on a number of commercial remodels (tenant improvements), some beings with
Circuit City and Walmart. I was responsible for relocating circuitry as per the plans, as
well as installing new panels and transformers.
June 1998 Delco Electric Oklahoma City, Ok
To Apprentice Electrician
December 2000
While I was attending the University of Oklahoma, the people at Delco were kind
enough to let me work with them during breaks in the school schedule. Several of my
family members worked there, and this is where I acquired the bulk of my knowledge. I
started out installing lighting fixtures in new Walmarts and from there learned how to
bend conduit and pull wire.
Education:
1998 Westmoore High School Oklahoma City, Ok
High School Diploma GPA:3.3
1999-2000 University of Oklahoma Norman, Ok
Political Science/Psychology Major
2008 California Electrical Journeyman Certification
2009 OSHA 10 Card Certified
Safety requirement for many special projects
Skills:
I am capable of doing all electrical work that a person with nearly ten years in the electrical trade
should be familiar with. This includes bending conduit, pulling wire, reading plans, installing
panels and transformers, and installing fixtures. For the last several years I have been a job
runner and foreman on most projects I have been on. I am familiar with the day to day tasks with
which that entails. This includes scheduling projects ahead of time to ensure the appropriate materials
and manpower are present, obtaining inspections, handling paperwork and maintaining company equipment and tools.
Activities:
When I have had the occasion to visit Oklahoma, I like to Spend time volunteering at the
Cleveland County Inter-local Cooperative. It is part of a dropout prevention program for high
school kids that provides them with an alternative to conventional high school so that they can
continue their education and receive high school diplomas when they face adversity. Many of the
kids there do not have a positive role model in their lives, and I believe that just spending time
with them lets them see that there are positive ways to live their life.
Now that I live here in Southern California, I think that I would like to find a similar program to
work with out here.
Keyword Summary:
In the coming months and years I look forward to furthering my education and advancing my career.
I very much would like to work on larger scale projects because I believe I have the ability to
direct other employees when needed, and can communicate with other supervisors and trades effectively.
Additionally, I am very used to working in excess of 40 hours every week. I have normally worked 60
hour weeks and there have been times when working in excess of 80 hours a week has been necessary.
I very much enjoy the challenge of rising to the occasion so that all deadlines are met on time and under budget.
