Materials Engineer for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority.
Responsible for materials oversight on all Tollway projects, which
consists of Bridge Deck Pours, PCC and CRC Pavement Pours, Stabilized Sub-Base, HMA Laydown, Concrete Structure Pours (including Bridge Deck Parapets, Moment Walls, Barrier Base and Barrier Walls, etc.), Nuclear/Core Correlations and various other construction items. Other responsibilities include attending Pre-Pour Meetings, Pre-Construction Meetings, Material Meetings, Weekly Coordination Meetings and various Industry Meetings. I also attend Concrete Trial Batches for all contracts that require a Trial Batch to be performed for a particular or specialty concrete mix design. I am a proficient user of the Tollway’s Material Documentation System (I-MIRS) and Proliance, the Tollway’s Industry Notification Program.

construction. Ensuring that the items inspected are in accordance
with the plans and specifications as they relate to the proper
construction of contract items. Proficient in the use of survey
instruments and a working knowledge of the proper construction layout
calculations, methods and techniques as well as computing plan quantities and having knowledge of the required documentation of
contract pay items.
1999-2007 Bureau of Project Implementation – Materials
Mixtures Testing Engineer responsible for providing technical
expertise and direction to personnel responsible for the quality of all
hot mix asphalt (HMA) and related mixtures produced for use on
construction projects. I also engaged in random sampling of materials
incorporated into bituminous mixtures, investigation of bituminous
paving projects for mixture, density problems, proper design and field
control of the production of bituminous concrete.
I have been involved with many statewide investigation committees and
countless HMA technical working groups throughout the years. I have
worked on the material side of construction projects numbering in the hundreds as well as been instrumental in the implementation of all ERS
projects in District 3. I have completed several hundred Start-ups/
Nuclear Core Correlations/Test Strips for projects in District 3 and have
attended numerous workshops and seminars not listed above essential to projects that incorporate HMA. I am experienced with the input of
bituminous mix designs and other data into the Department’s MISTIC
System and have completed many various material inspections.
