I am a healthcare architect with extensive inpatient and outpatient experience on healthcare projects from programming phase through completion of construction. I have a Strong background in managing team members and working with administration, physicians and user groups to create a project which meets the functional and strategic goals of a healthcare provider organization. Professional Experience
Marshall Erdman and Associates 2001 to 2008
• Part of 3 man leadership team working with clients and running projects from initial design through completion of construction with high profit and satisfied clients.
• Managed projects ranging from $5,000,000 to $60,000,000 successfully minimizing change orders and delivering projects on time and on budget.
• Outsourced some engineering functions resulting in better profitability and minimizing the number of change orders.
• Worked closely with the construction side of this design build firm to set budgets and adhere to the budget including weekly meetings and reviews of the project through the construction phase.
• I was the responsible party charged with preliminary reviews, permitting and final inspection and occupancy approvals with all authorities of jurisdiction for all requirements for the inpatient and outpatient projects.
• Worked through the detailed design from a conceptual design by regional designer to insure compliance with user needs, accessibility and code compliance.
• Worked with vendors to integrate medical equipment into plan including providing flexible spaces when vendor for large equipment couldn’t be determined until after construction start.
• Completed many continuing education courses on code updates, accessibility standards and medical equipment primer courses.
• Did 3 small physician owned hospitals and several outpatient surgery facilities which required getting the state of Texas department of health final reviews and certifications.
• Did clinic facilities for doctors groups and lab facilities for profit laboratories, clinics and hospitals.
Keystone Architecture 1997 to 2000
• Managed office staff and provided supervision of all design and production efforts for 10 man firm.
• Provided guidance and development to advance the capabilities of staff.
• Was client design contact and construction reviewer for projects.
Indiana University Architects office, School of Medicine Indianapolis Indiana 1990 to 1996
• Provided full documents and construction administration as the architect of record for many renovation projects within 2 hospitals and the research lab facilities with a small staff.
• Provided programming and preliminary design for departmental expansion and reorganization of departments within the primary university hospital.
• Worked with hospital administration and departmental user groups to coordinate scheduling of projects to create minimum impact within the departments since projects had to be completed with the department remaining in operation.
National enterprises 1986 to 1990
• Acted as project architect on large retirement facilities which included phases from light assisted living through skilled nursing wings.
Recent Projects
• Matrix Physician owned hospital in Fort Worth; 6 O.R.’s, Radiology department with MRI, 15 inpatient beds and supporting functions.
• Hattiesburg women’s Clinic in Hattiesburg Ms.; 3 story with bridge to adjoining Forest General Hospital, 5 Departments including an MRI and a large Lab designed to incorporate the adjoining hospital lab.
• Abilene doctor’s hospital in Abilene: Similar to the Matrix hospital in Fort Worth.
• Texas Regional Eye Center in Bryan Texas which included an eye clinic and small surgery center.
• Children’s Medical Center of Dallas 8 O.R. Surgery Center.
• Surgery Center, Orthopedic Center and Eye Center on one site in Lake Charles Louisiana.
• Physicians Metroplex Hospital in Arlington Texas.
