Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology Dhaka, Bangladesh B.S., Chemical Engineering February 2004
Experience
District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority Washington, DC
Environmental Engineering Researcher (Intern) June 2008 – August 2009
The goal of the internship program was to make a comparative evaluation of Enhanced Enzymic Hydrolysis, Duel Digestion and Acid-Gas Phased Digestion processes for digestion of thickened municipal sludge from Blue Plains Advanced WasteWater Treatment Plant at Washington DC.
• Started-up and maintained continuous operation of digestion processes.
• Determined the pathogen destruction capacity in terms of fecal coliform to produce Class A biosolids, using Standard Culturing Methods (SCM).
• Evaluated the capacity for volatile solids reduction in feed sludge which can meet vector attraction reduction requirement of US EPA and reduce the volume of solids to be disposed off.
• Investigated the biogas generation potential of the digestion processes.
• Coordinated effectively with Plant supervisor and other team members for successful completion of research project.
The George Washington University Washington, DC
Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering
Graduate Teaching Assistant Fall 2007 – Spring 2009
• Instructed “Environmental Engineering Laboratory†course.
• Graded “Water Resource and Water Quality†and “Water Supply and Pollution Control†courses.
Farid Ahmed
Rya WasteWater Treatment Plant Gothenburg, Sweden
Graduate Researcher January 2007 - June 2007
The goal of the reaserch project was to investigate the effects of cation addition on the flocculation behavior of activated sludge at applied constant shear stress.
• Evaluated the Deflocculation and Reflocculation behavior of cation added activated sludge.
• Investigated the settling and dewatering characteristics of cation added activated sludge.
TexChem Ltd Dhaka, Bangladesh
Sales Engineer April 2004 – June 2005
• Arranged for laboratory testing and other related technical services of textile chemicals
• Organized product demonstration sessions for potential clients.
• Planned and reviewed work programs and scheduling.
