Project List
JP Morgan Chase Rebranding Program – Varied Values – Bovis Lend Lease
Project/Construction Manager for JP Morgan Chase Bank in the rebranding of Washington Mutual branches in the Texas region (Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin) as part of the national program. Worked closely with the bank branch managers and personnel to provide a safe, clean environment during all phases of the demolition and construction so that each branch could be operational during business day. Managed the entire process for each of the branches from preconstruction to close-out.
Park Pointe Village (Assisted Living), Rock Hill, SC – $24 million – Bovis Lend Lease
Assisted with preconstruction including project presentation to client, site visits, bidding, value engineering, scope sheet preparation and review, take-off and site logistics planning. The project involved a three-story living quarters addition, a three-story living quarters building with a one-story parking garage below, a wellness center, kitchen renovation, a guardhouse and associated site work and utilities.
South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, GA – $10 million – Bovis Lend Lease
As project manager, I managed the renovation and addition of the existing 6,700 SF emergency department providing the hospital and the community with a much needed state of the art 32,870 SF facility. I worked closely with the client to provide them with regular updates on progress also providing assistance in review and approval of change orders. I also developed, monitored, updated and reported on the detailed Project Master Schedule, controlled all budgets and costs, approved all pay applications, supervised and managed the on-site staff, and supported the Superintendent with any needed resources, the project was successfully completed on time and within budget.
Virginia DOT Toll Facility Addition/Renovation, McLean, VA – $2 million – SMCI
Performed preconstruction services, project logistics planning and client contact.
Shore Health Systems Hospital Commission Shop Renovation/Relocation, Easton, MD – $2.5 million – SMCI
Performed preconstruction services, project logistics planning and client contact.
Shore Health Systems Cardiac Catheterization Lab Renovation, Easton, MD – $160K – SMCI

PNC/Riggs Bank branch, Silver Spring Mall, Silver Spring, MD – $2 million – SMCI, Inc.
This project was a retail renovation combining two existing retail spaces. Since the space was housed in a historic portion of downtown Silver Spring, it involved satisfaction of and coordination with local officials, mall landlord, client, and architectural and engineering firms. Despite the change of ownership from Riggs to PNC, the project was successfully completed on time and within budget.
PNC/Riggs Bank branch base building, Dulles Town Center, Reston, VA – $3.5 million – SMCI, Inc.
I acted as the construction manager for this project and since it was Riggs Bank’s prototype, it was closely scrutinized by the client. My diplomacy skills were helpful when the general contractor with whom Riggs Bank had formerly been involved for approximately fifty years was informed that this would be their last project for the bank. Although hampered by poor soils, rain delays, a demanding landlord, numerous design changes and a disgruntled general contractor, the project was considered a success by Riggs Bank.
PNC/Riggs Bank branch base building, Fallsgrove Shopping Center, Rockville, MD – $2.5 million – SMCI, Inc.
The second of Riggs Bank’s base buildings was not only completed in about half the time of the Dulles Town Center project, but was managed concurrently. It was completed approximately one month before Dulles utilizing a different general contractor. This project was completed on time and within budget despite a dismissed MEP engineering firm, the same landlord, and numerous issues arising with the local electrical utility and the telephone companies. It was my perseverance with both the electrical utility and telephone companies that assured the branch was open for business as planned.
The JFK Center for the Performing Arts Terrace Theater handrail replacement, Washington, DC – $3 million
The project involved removal of existing carpet on stair treads, installation of handrails of a specific profile and reinstallation of the existing carpet all within a small window of time when there were no performances in the theater. Much of the work was carried out during off-hours to avoid noise from core drilling and because the carpet was a discontinued variety and the budget was limited, extra care was taken to protect the surrounding carpet and finishes nearby. This project was completed within budget and on time.
US Naval Academy multi-family housing project (203 units), Annapolis, MD – $15 million
As the on-site manager, I was the sole contact for the Naval Academy’s project management staff. What began as a $10 million project to renovate providing approximately 135 units, was extended midway through to include the additional $5 million and 68 units. My management of the initial phases of work resulted in SMCI’s ability to negotiate a sole-source contract for the additional work. The project was divided into several phases and involved nearly complete interior demolition of the first and second floors of existing townhouses. The new construction provided larger living quarters including new finishes, appliances, plumbing fixtures, HVAC, telephone, cable, electric and lighting. Many of the buildings required asbestos removal and decontamination from mold before actual construction could begin. This coupled with additional work required to repair years of water damage posed its own set of difficulties. In spite of these hurdles, the project was completed within the government’s budget and on time.
Signature Flight Support, Dulles International Airport terminal renovation and maintenance building, Dulles, VA – $3 million – SMCI, Inc.
Signature Flight Support is a 24/7 service that caters to privately owned and Government aircraft. The complete renovations to the terminal and construction of the maintenance building took place while business continued. All portions of the pilot and client services were renovated to improve operations completing reworking the first level to include a new pilots’ lounge, kitchen, staff lounge, restrooms, services counter and operations center. All construction took place without upsetting the clientele or disrupting the terminal staff and was completed within budget and on time.
Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Cancer Center, Baltimore, MD – $105 million – Whiting-Turner Contracting Co.
This state-of-the-art, eight-story medical facility took approximately three years to complete and strengthened my knowledge of medical facility construction. I was responsible for specific trades including, telecommunication/data, landscaping, site concrete, hardscaping, paving and was tasked with monthly progress reporting for the entire project.
Pepsi-Cola, Newport News, VA & Wilmington, DE – $2.5 Million (Each) – Whiting-Turner Contracting Co.
Provided pepsi with the additional space needed to expand their current distribution centers in Newport News, VA and Wilmington, DE.
Mercy Hospital, Baltimore, MD – Various – Whiting-Turner Contracting Co.
Various renovations to the existing hospital including lobby, offices, surgical suites, etc.
Frito-Lay, Aberdeen, MD – Various – Whiting-Turner Contracting Co.
Facility expansions to install a baked potato chip line and future baked tortilla chip line, as well as warehouse expansion and modifications/additions to distribution facility.
