To join a successful and progressive organization where I can contribute and grow.
Introduction: My unique and varied background includes over 30 years of progressive management experience in the areas of Building Program Management, Construction Management, Design/Build and General Contracting. My experience is hands-on, as well as, management of all phases of Design/Building Program/Construction Management from project inception through project closeout.
Philosophy: In order to have a successful project it is essential to have open Communication, proper Coordination and the Cooperation of all involved. I work diligently to ensure that each of the three “C's†is attained.
Core Skills: I am a Team Player who believes Communication is the root of a successful project. My ability to see problems before they arise, coupled with my Problem Solving and Cost Accounting skills, have given me a solid track record of projects delivered within schedule and under budget. I have experience with various types of project management software and scheduling programs.
The following are areas I feel most passionate about:
* Proactive Management * Personal and Project Organization
* Documentation * Development of Accurate Documents
* Cost Management * Mentoring Younger Associates
Experience: After time spent in the field learning basic construction skills, project and manpower scheduling, problem solving skills and all functions of the construction process, I spent time learning design and engineering practices with various firms. I started a residential design business (over 3,500 units designed in 15 states) with graduate architects and interior designers on staff. I also started a design/build firm with field management personnel managing construction. I was later hired by Boise Cascade as a Project Manager in their special projects department and after analyzing their estimating format; I made a presentation to upper management on the fallacies of their present format. My presentation and recommendation was accepted and I was promoted to Regional Chief Estimator and later to Territory Manager.
My experience includes having worked for smaller construction firms as well as larger firms such as Flintco Inc., Turner Construction, both, as a Project Manager and for AMEC/Morse Diesel as a Senior Project Manager. I have also been hired directly by owners such as Miami University and Centel Cable to manage their construction programs.
Presently I am owner of Cornerstone Management, LLC offering Design, Building Program and Construction Management to commercial clients.
Past Employers:
AMEC/Morse Diesel Senior Project Manager: Education and Retail
Turner Construction Project Manager: Pro Sports Stadium
Flintco, Inc. Project Manager: Multi-Story, Twin Tower Hotel
In the past 30 years of Program and Construction Management I have managed the following types of projects:
* Educational Facilities * Medical Facilities
(Primary, Secondary & Higher Education) (Nursing Care, Emergency Care and Medical Care)
* Pro and College Sports Stadiums * Churches
* Power Generating Plant * Library & Conference Facility
* Large Site Development and Utility Projects * Large Multi-Family Developments
* Hotel * Mixed Use Developments
Summary: My background in Building Program Management, Construction Management, Design/Build and General Contracting, along with my experience of being a Project Manager in an architectural and a civil engineer’s office, has given me training and experience in developing a well-coordinated set of construction documents. Also, my experience with working directly for the owner gives me insight into their needs and operations.
