I have found no matter what the position I was involved with, the understanding of the job came easier once I gained all the certifications that were used on the project.
My education has been a compilation of over 11 years federal and state training in regular Army and following up with National Guard schools. While stationed in over 23 countries I took every opportunity to gain college at every post. I am currently in the process of compiling credits and creating a collected transcript. The total of my credits will exceed what is a BS in science in the civilian world. I also have perused a theology-based background that has left me with ThD honors from Seminary and secular academia.
I feel I am capable of giving an employer more in terms of productivity and attention to detail than is currently demanded of me. My many job skills have come from working my way up through several entry-level positions. Therefore, I have a base knowledge of industry, which varies from maintenance to management of resources. My goal in the job market today is to gain rewarding employment in a field that I can see direct results of my labor.
To start off with I would like to tell you what skills I posses that would make me an asset to your company. I have developed a background in electronics and troubleshooting complex systems using schematics and layout diagrams. I also posses a HVAC universal masters certif. with good service knowledge of HVAC programs and operation to include boiler operation with extensive experience in Heating and cooling operations. My skills include many chiller and cooling systems. High voltage and control voltage both in industrial situations and residential applications are among my skills.
My technical background comes from training at manufacturer schools such as Siemens, ABB, Trane, and Yokogawa to name a few. I thrive at a position that requires me to consume large amounts of detailed information and move that information on in a understandable manor. I posses knowledge of most logic or binary based programming and can run most consumer based software. Skills here include programming of PLC based devices and smart relays.
Over the years I have attained much experience in the engineering field for support systems and design of new applications to include shop drawing and AutoCAD
.
After years of various maintenance orientated positions and contracts that required continued learning has left me with a good base knowledge of many computer software applications and the related hardware to support those applications. The experiences here range from PLC programming to base level languages. Part of my work in this area has given me experience in pneumatics and hydraulic controls.
After graduating high school I went into the armed service for four years. There I developed the skills of personnel, command, and discipline. After service, I entered National Guard where I gave another 6 years of service. Exiting the service, I bought a solo trucking company and made a go on the open road. This was a vastly successful venture but left me gone from a new wife and child. After this I opted to get into municipal work. I started in an Entry-level construction position and then moved into an equipment operation position. A job opened up at the city’s power Plant, which I tested for and acquired. I worked my way up through the ranks of the power plant into the operations job of power plant operator.
Work History:
Current Positions:
Stephens College
Dedicated Digital Control Engineer/Buildings Systems Engineer 04/08-Pres
This is a well loved position that enables me to bring together all of my skills of management, engineering, control systems, and project creation. I was tasked to bring failing college building systems up to running order and make changes that both fit into the budget and will enhance the students living conditions. The work can range from creating projects from scratch costing well into the seven digits and completing those projects in a timely fashion. Many of my math skills and organizational abilities are stretched here to obtain the desired goals of management. Large Chiller projects along with computer control systems have been the brunt of the work. The only reason I would consider leaving here would be for a better financial situation. In short if you want it done you call me. This position requires the use of building software, creating hardware, And implementing the project.
Green Acres Farms
Owner/operator/Lead Maint, Production Farms 05/92-Pres
This is a successful farm in which I am both a co-owner and the Full line design engineer. I love this job and one day it may be a national farm but for now I am happy the way it is. Our farm produces honey for sale at market and retail. I manage the bee population and ensure a market for the products we produce which vary from wax, pollen and honeys. The sales part of this job is a powerful tool I use to sell our honey in a nationwide market. This farm uses a myriad of refrigeration and heating appliances on a large-scale production line. There have been many chances to make this a large-scale operation but a common decision was made to keep it a small family farm. I am especially proud of the patent I hold on the PLC based production/filling line.
Positions Held in the Past
• Hudlin Inc. Columbia Mo
Service tech, Plumbing contractor/Service & Sales (11/03-05/05)
Here I worked as a field service rep, which dealt with a customer base for repair of plumbing; drain work, and the plumbing construction in new additions. It was an unsupervised position where I bid, sold, worked, and collected from the customer. Here I learned the importance of customer relations and the importance of details in the transaction. This was a position that was primarily sales and service.
• City of Columbia, Columbia MO
Total years with City Of Columbia: 8
Power Plant Operator 3/Plant Maint/Power Purchase and Sales (last position held) (03/95 -11/03)
This job involves both the purchase and production of electric power. Other elements of this job include turbine operations, Cost management, auditing, and emergency operations of the power grid and related equipment. This was a job of great responsibility. This position relies heavily on the ability to multi-task. I transitioned from this job to both leave shift work and to spend more time developing my family’s farm.
• Sartin Equipment, Auxvasse MO
Owner/Operator (01/92 - 03/95)
Here I purchased a company in which the owner was the only employee. I scheduled freight, worked logistics into the runs, and made sure that customers were happy. This is where I acquired a Class A Driver’s License as well as valuable real world experiences. Here I worked several other positions when winter or down time allowed.
• US Army, Ft. Polk --Home Post LA
Soldier, Turbine Based Systems Engineer, Power Production (07/86 - 01/92)
National Guard (07-92 – 05-01)
This was the most exciting part of my career thus far. I worked on turbine- based power applications, Field service work, NCO officer responsibilities and learned all facets of being a front line soldier. This experience has lent more to who I am today than anything else in my life. I entered the National Guard after completing my regular service term. Just ask if you would to know more. I love discussing my military service and hold it in high regard as what developed me as an individual.
