Duties performed while assigned to relief, Animal recovery and disposal from within the gulf in and around Galveston area, emergency oil spill containment, and served as project manager for the reconstruction and repair of the Mobile Refinery located in Beaumont, Texas.
• ACL Inc.,New Orleans, LA – Emergency Response to 280,000 gallon oil spill on the Mississippi River, operated as project manager for camp E on the West Bank of the river, Camp E was responsible for the oil recovery and clean-up along a 3 mile stretch of shoreline and 3500 foot of heavy boom. Duration of response 2 months
• SMUSD, Burlingame, CA – Excavated lead contaminated soil in and around Burlingame High School, replaced areas with upgraded irrigation and restored vegetation. Duration of project 7 months
• Camp Pendleton MCB, Oceanside, CA – Oversight of excavation of 900,000+ tons of soil contaminated with OCTD’s, pesticides, and herbicides. Soil stockpile then processed through a pug mill mixed with fly-ash, charcoal, and water to be transported to a designated location that was prepared for a soil leech ate plan and engineered land cap. Duration of project 3 years
• Vandenberg AFB, Vandenberg, CA – Co-managed the background investigation of a base-wide locating of unknown underground storage tanks (UST) and managed the removal of found UST and backfilling of decommissioned silos. Duration of Project 9 months
• Miramar NAS, San Diego, CA. – Managed UST removal and replacement of seven oil/water separators in multiple locations on base with excavations to a depth at 15 feet and greater involving dewatering in some of the excavations. Duration of project 1 year.
• MTA, Los Angeles, CA – Managed the oversight of a sub-contractor for a 8 million dollar UST removal and systems upgrade for the MTA bus terminals in 10 locations of the greater LA area, project included over excavating to remove contaminated soils. Duration of Project 2 years
• Aerojet, Chino Hills – Managed excavating and removal of 250,000 tons of soil with unexploded ordnance buried throughout excavation; Project was a multi stage project including hand scanning of area prior to excavating looking for UXO, stockpiling soil to be dried to a point where it could be ran through a patented hammer mill outfitted with magnets and pick lines. Duration of project 8 months
• San Mateo School District – Burlingame, CA. – Managed the removal of approximately 2500 tons of arsenic contaminated soil and replaced with certified clean soil including the completion of a new landscape. Duration of Project 8 months
• SDG & E Power Plant – Managed environmental abatement and first phase of demolition of 80,000 sq. ft. 7 story concrete power plant which included 6 furnaces, 4 turbine generators, and the salt water intake system. Asbestos abatement and lead abatement was done by sub-contractor under my management. Plant neighbored one protected structure that had a load bearing wall 15 inches to the West. Duration of project 8 months
• Marine Corps Air Station (lanar development and centrex homes), Tustin, CA – Managed multi task demolition contract, which involved the demolition of a 5 helicopter repair hanger including the attached two story office building, one receiving warehouse approximately 10,000 sq. ft., one 3000 sq. ft. maintenance house, four office building structures, thirteen un-described structures and seven UXO bunker rooms. Duration of project 4 months
• AFCEE, Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA. – Managed the abatement and demolition of (3) 1940’s era hangers that once housed the bombers made there for WWII and over the years converted into security offices, sports complex for military employees, and a commissary with dry cleaners. Each hanger was approximately 50,000 sq. ft. Duration of project 2 months
• MTA, Los Angeles, - Managed the demolition of five commercial buildings spanning over one block to make way for MTA’s new gold line rail, buildings were former dental offices, liquor stores and various shops.
