Owner/Builder – L A Development. , Salt Lake City, UT 06/1999 – 07/2009
My experience with the disciplines of construction management, construction, and design-build allows all parties involved to interact and collaborate on a step-by-step basis. This facilitates an open thought process and leads to more innovative, cost-effective solutions for a project.
Long before construction begins, and often before design has started, I add value through accurate cost-studies, aggressive scheduling and innovative purchasing.
My leadership will go on-site and remain there until all expectations for the project have been realized and surpassed.
My premium blend of advanced project management and old-world craftsmanship allow my craftspeople and subcontractors to focus on creating custom work, by hand, without distractions. I seek to understand and apply technological tools, which increase efficiency in the areas of scheduling, estimating, project control and collaboration.
Every project is assigned a quality assurance representative to make sure everything is as promised. I continue support long after construction is completed, and I will always assist with smaller projects, minor alterations, and ongoing care and maintenance.
General Electrician – GSL Electric, Salt Lake City, UT 06/1993 – 06/1999
OSHA and MSHA safety training
GSL's accident prevention program
Design Build and Value Engineering training
Federal Aviation Administration training
GSL is a diversified multi-million dollar electrical contractor providing exceptional commercial, industrial, institutional, manufacturing, site utility, and power line-substation construction projects. While employed with GSL Electric I was responsible for all electrical work on the runways at the Salt Lake City International Airport, from conception to finish, including remodel of additional taxi and access ramp for aircraft. This was a three year project. GSL Electric had service contracts with Kennecott Utah Copper. I had worked within the heavy industrial service and scheduled maintenance shutdowns. I worked extensively in the commercial application of conduit bending, wire pulling, wire termination, service entrance, and distribution power. At the end of my employment with GSL I left with a greater knowledge and experience of the electrical trade.
I started out with DECCA construction in their electrical division with Eagle Electric as a general foreman doing all of DECCA’s electrical subcontract work to Eagle Electric. Electrical work to include industrial, commercial, multi-family, government, residential, and educational facilities. Along with working with DECCA Construction owner Daryl Wareing asked me to be his general superintendent to further my career. Working in this capacity as a general superintendent I expanded my knowledge with working with the wide range of job sites, trades and crafts, scheduling, and OSHA safety. Daryl Wareing and sons taught me great knowledge in the construction industry and I was privileged to be part of their team.
Forman/Industrial & Commercial - Canyon State Electric, Phoenix, Arizona 02/1985-08/1987
Canyon state electric, at the time of my employment with them, was a high specification workload. During employment with Canyon State Electric my main focus was on job performance of high commercial jobs that were being built at that time, as in block structure, tilt slab, and finish brick application. Projects that I was fortunate to see through to the finish were ASU West Campus, many other educational structures throughout Mesa, Chandler, Phoenix, and surrounding areas. While employed with Canyon State Electric I also was involved in other electrical construction with hospitals and other medical facilities.
Apprentice - Corbin Service Electric – Phoenix, Arizona 07/1984 – 02/1885
While with Corbin service electric I worked on the Honeywell in Scottsdale. This facility was the defense contractor where missile warheads were manufactured which required that a high security clearance.
Apprentice - Primary Electric – Phoenix, Arizona 11/1983 – 07/1984
With Primary I started my residential electrical apprentice working on custom homes. I moved to the industrial commercial sector with the building of the 7.5 million dollar Club House/Pro Shop at the Jack Nicholas golf course in north Scottsdale. Employment with Primary Electric was to further education and pay increase.
I worked as a hospital institutional electrician, general electrical maintenance and some new construction. My employment with Camelback Hospital was to further my education and pay increase.
