Started TriSpec Architectural Hardware in 1991 and as President/CEO was responsible for
all aspects of running a small contract hardware company. We were primarily public works suppliers with a history of retrofit work that was field designed to match existing conditions.
My personal sales total for 2009 was $750,000.00. I have an intimate knowledge of finish hardware and the coordination of hardware with wood doors, aluminum doors and frames
and hollow metal work to ensure all materials are correct when they are on site and installed.
This position entailed consistent strategies to ensure proper pricing of bids, ensuring submitted materials was to specification and per take-off. Cost controls and negotiating effective factory discount structures, invoice review and approval, profit and loss per job and miscellaneous sales and the moving of inventories to projects was also part of my duties.
Communication with both the customer and the employees to achieve better understanding of the materials being furnished required exemplary skills in explaining a complicated problem and reducing it to a reasonable and simple solution. There was daily interaction with Contractors, Architects, Owners and authorities having jurisdictions which reinforced a professional and expert company image in the industry. The writing of specifications for doors, frames and hardware and the establishment and maintenance of key systems was included in the business’ work.
The state of the construction industry and the California economy have affected my business
to a point where I have chosen to close the doors to future work. The effects of restricted cash flow from my customers and the economic conditions have, in effect, eliminated my ability to maintain a vibrant and profitable business. I am hoping to relocate and begin anew with a considerable storehouse of knowledge and experience to offer.
