Residential & Light Commercial Construction 1982 - 1990
I worked from a very young age with my family’s company: Stermer
and Sons Construction. We built Spec homes, custom homes, offices,
& did renovations & restoration. I have done everything from digging
footer, forming/ pouring concrete, laying up cement block, framing,
setting trusses, roofing, setting windows, hanging doors, installing
siding, stairs, drywall, hardware, flooring & finish carpentry. I have
sub-contracted siding, cornice & stair rails; interior custom trim, including cabinets, on million dollar homes. I worked for several GCs being responsive to sub-contractors, understanding building codes, supervising construction, estimating & ordering materials, meeting deadlines. Having built homes I understand the procedures & problems encountered regarding code officials, materials, scheduling, workmanship & design.
Commercial Art 1974 - 1981
Out of high school I worked as a portrait & caricature artist for
Cypress Gardens, Disney, Mystery Fun House, Circus World & private parties. I went on to develop my own graphic art studio, having trained w/ a seasoned Disney artist on ‘The Great Master’s Series. I’ve exhibited at art shows & expos across US & Canada. With my background in graphic art I bring a unique perspective & experience to architectural documentation. As an artist I am skilled in graphic presentation; understanding line weight, color, texture, contrast, shadow & form. Also having worked with many talented designers I recognize functional as well as pleasing design.
