As a leader and organizer by nature, I approach all of my tasks by first developing a clear understanding of the scope and requirements of the goal which has been set. With this knowledge I can begin to breakdown the individual tasks required to achieve the overall goal and to formulate a plan of action. The plan typically involves separate groups or professionals working on unique operations which must be coordinated and brought together within a specified time line in order for the project to be a success. A failure or oversight on any given level endangers the success of the entire operation so it is vital that constant and accurate monitoring of each segment of the project plan be made. The key to successfully creating and implementing this type of project plan begins with leadership and extends throughout the organizations structure. Without clear direction, guidance, monitoring and accountability for the milestones within the project’s plan, success cannot be achieved. With twenty plus years of construction management experience I have had the opportunity to work through many unique situations and to gain a comfort and confidence for organizing individuals in order to achieve specific goals. I am a no nonsense analytical realistical thinker who prefers to discover the one reason a project can succeed instead of choking on the myriad of reasons it should not. My projects have been true success stories whereby all of the parties involved from the end user to the contractors responsible for the work, the investors to the owners, have felt a sense of accomplishment and that the project met or exceeded expectations and was accomplished within the timeframe of the original plan. I am currently looking for a new group to be a part of and to share my desire to be the best at what we choose to do.
With my construction management experience, I comfortably and confidently tackle projects using clear communication, organization and construction knowledge. Experience has taught me to “plan my work, and work my planâ€. Construction managers are often thought of as problem solvers, I am comfortable in that role, however with good planning and constant monitoring many potential problems can be avoided. I typically attack a given project in the following manner.
~ acquire a thorough understanding of the projects scope and requirements
~ select and assemble the design and construction team consisting of architects, engineers and contractors
- develop clear and complete scopes of work
- negotiate contracts
~ coordinate a fast track design and integrate it into an aggressive construction schedule
~ obtain permits, approvals, etc. from the governing regulatory agencies
~ implement and monitor the project plan through the completion and turnover of the project
- quality control
- adherence to plans and schedule
- costs
