SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Change Management: Took over management of store spiraling downward in sales and profitability, under consideration for closing. Identified problem areas as indifferent customer service attitudes, lack of cooperation between sales rep and store employees, inadequate inventory control procedures, poor records followthrough and generally low morale. Used communication and team-building skills to improve attitudes, cooperation and morale. Implemented better inventory practices and followthrough. Impact: Immediately stopped downward trends and within two years elevated sales to 10 year high of $1.2 million.
Training and Development: Trained employees by using performance evaluations to set individual goals, training materials were produced to develop hard skills and personalized, experience-based coaching to enhance soft skills. Impact: Six sales associates moved into successful store management roles.
Safety Management: Encouraged employee safety awareness attitudes, implemented corporate "safe practice" initiatives, conducted semi-annual safety audits of equipment and monthly safety meetings, monitored routine activities for safety issues. Impact: Achieved a zero work-related injury record for supervised employees for 18+ years.
Project Management: Advised planning committee on new 26000 sf distribution center layout prior to facility opening. Supervised installation of warehouse and office equipment. Managed warehouse operations for 13 months in support of local and district sales. Closed the facility, redistributed and/or returned inventory and equipment to company facilities and vendors. Vacated the building on schedule and within budget. Impact: Brought an efficient end to an ill-conceived and profit-draining corporate venture.
Problem Solving/Process Improvement: Recognized potential overheating/fire hazard in standard store operating equipment (sample dryer). Gathered personal reports from several locations, analyzed the problem, designed, built and implemented use of a heat dissipating stand to hold sample dryer. Added a hands-free feature to enhance functionality. Impact: Increased efficiency of sample drying process.
Conflict Resolution: Arranged meeting with principals of former client architectural firm to address reasons client ceased business with the company. Discussed likely causes of earlier problem. Informed client of corrections already in place to avoid future problems, including both product and procedural improvements and a new costumer advocacy communication channel. Impact: Client agreed to begin including company products in their specifications, allowing company to bid on construction projects worth $12 million.
