Experience Project Manager, Zapata Engineering, Charlotte, NC (2007-Present)
Commercial Site Development and Utility engineering for multiple private
(Churches, Universities) and military projects (design-build). This work includes
grading, water/sanitary layout and design, water/sanitary/storm state and county
permits, specifications and proposal writing.
Ft. Jackson, Columbia, SC. This military design-build project was for the Army
Corps and included plan preparation, permit and utility coordination for almost 2
miles of water, gravity sewer and force main. Project responsibilities included
plan preparation (utility layout and design, profiles, specifications, permit
applications (sanitary, water, swppp) details, erosion control, staff supervision
and budget reporting. Preliminary cost estimate: $950,000.
Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point, NC. This military design-build included
a Walking mall (gazebo, benches, lighting, landscape and stamped, decorative
sidewalks) and parking lot expansion. Project responsibilities include sub-
contractor coordination (surveying, geotechnical and landscaping), plan
preparation, permit applications (storm and erosion), staff supervision and
budget reporting. Preliminary cost estimate: $1.2 million.

Commercial site development design included utility coordination, grading, high-
way plan / profiles, water / sanitary / storm layout and design, traffic signal
design, permits, specifications, cost estimates and bid preparation.
Municipal engineering included water /sanitary design, permits, public meetings
and coordination, specifications, cost estimates and bid preparations.
â— Cottonwood Village. This commercial development involved the
final plans, with permits, specifications and cost estimate for a 11 acre site
consisting of a bank, a restaurant and a light industrial building in Lincoln
County. Project responsibilities included water, sanitary and storm layout and
design, permit applications (water, sanitary and erosion), preparation of plans
(grading, road plan and profiles, water, sanitary, storm, specifications and details,
erosion control and traffic control), cost estimate and bid preparation.
Preliminary cost estimate = $ 2.7 million.
◠Rocky River 42†Gravity Sewer. This Town of Mooresville project
Involved the final plans with cost estimate for an over two (2) mile sanitary sewer
serving the south side of town and two subdivisions with the outfall at the town
WWTP. Project responsibilities include sanitary sewer design and layout, utility
coordination, permit applications, easement acquisitions, specifications, cost
estimate and bid preparation. Preliminary construction cost = $ 3.5 million.
Land development design includes due diligence reports, detention
design, utility coordination, grading, storm and sanitary design, highway
design, traffic studies and cost estimates.
â— Brier Hill Crossing Subdivision. This project involved the
preliminary and final plans with cost estimate for a 175 acre development
consisting of 410 single family lots in the Village of Pingree Grove.
Project responsibilities include earthwork, storm layout and design, water
main layout, sanitary layout, detention design, permit applications and
preparation of plans (grading, plan and profiles, utilities, storm water
prevention, signing and striping and details), cost estimate and
specifications. Preliminary construction cost = $7.2 million.
Highway and traffic signal design and preparation of contract
plans, specifications and cost estimates for Municipal Street projects in
Northern Illinois. Land Development design includes storm management
reports (using TR-20), Storm and sanitary design, highway geometrics
and design, grading, lighting and Cost estimates.
â— Empress Drive Traffic Signal The project involved the plans,
specifications and cost estimate for the signalization of the Empress
Drive and US Route 6 intersection in Joliet, Illinois for the Empress
Casino. Reviewed by the Illinois Department of Transportation (District 1)
and the City of Joliet. Project responsibilities included signal design and
layout, plan preparation and project coordination. Built in 1999 with a
construction cost of $125,000.
â— Ward Farm Subdivision. The project involves the storm
water management report, plans and cost estimate for a 150 acre
development consisting of 310 single family home sites and 3.5 miles of
streets in the Village of Shorewood. Project responsibilities includes
storm and detention design, earthwork, hydraulic studies, permit
applications and preparation of plans, cost estimates and specifications.
Preliminary construction cost = $2.5 million.
Project Design Engineer, Dames & Moore, Rolling Meadows, Illinois
(1992-1995)
• Infantry Drive Phase II. The project involved the plans, specifications, and estimate for approximately 1.5 miles of new roadway and a new bridge in Joliet, Illinois for the Illinois Department of Transportation, District #1 and the City of Joliet. Project responsibilities included pavement design, soil analysis, and R.O.W. acquisition. Plans prepared in metric units. Construction cost = $3 million.
• Illinois Route 29. The project involved the plans, specifications, and estimate for roadway in the City of Peoria, Illinois for the Illinois Department of Transportation, District #4. Project responsibilities included construction staging, traffic control, and plan review. Construction cost = $2.5 million.
â— Glencoe Road, Phase II. The project included the plans, specifications, and estimate for the resurfacing and bridge replacement of approximately 3 miles of roadway in Glencoe, Illinois for the Illinois Department of Transportation, District #1 and the City of Glencoe. Project responsibilities included traffic control, pavement design, construction staging and drainage. Plans prepared in metric units. Construction cost = $3 million.
Project Field Engineer, STV Group, Chicago, Illinois (1988-1992)
• Lead member of construction inspection team in charge of all
concrete quality control on $10 million I-80/Houbolt Road interchange in
Joliet. Wrote up IDOT reports and performed air, and slump tests.
• Organized field analysis work on the Phase I Kedzie Avenue
Design Proposal for the City of Chicago. Gathered the intersection
measurements, obtained traffic turning movement, timed traffic signals,
and utilized highway capacity computer software.
