Dear Recruiting Manager,
Thank you for taking the time to review my resume. I am writing to you today regarding a position as Project Manager with your firm. I greatly admire a company with a strong reputation and would thrive in assisting your company’s growth and continued excellence. My prior experience in construction has afforded me the opportunity to work on a multitude of varying types of projects from commercial to industrial applications.
Background Highlights:
• As a Project Manager I successfully oversaw projects from start to completion for leading organizations in the Washington, DC and Northern VA area including the; Department of Homeland Security, Secret Service, DOD, EPA, Defense Advance Research Project Administration, Raytheon, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and Shell Oil Company.
• Worked in conjunction with the City of Alexandria’s Planning, Construction, and Inspection officials and local architects to carefully develop cost-effective solutions to renovate and update an idle six-story structure for mixed use occupancy. Vacant over 20 years, modern code and zoning requirements had previously rendered the remodel of the building a fiscal impracticality. Today the multi-million dollar project serves as a model of revitalization for Old Town Alexandria and other major cities who share such valuable history and revenue potential.
• Worked with LEED certified contractors in the city of Richmond to transform a 100-year-old warehouse into a GREEN based design and remodel firm. Incorporating the use of solar panels as an architectural feature in addition to other LEED qualifying systems. The building is a focal point for Richmond and the surrounding region as construction efforts become increasingly environmentally conscious.
• Directed utility installation crews involving; high-voltage power distribution, communication, gas, water and sanitary. Worked with Master Electricians on high-voltage substation construction and the installation of switch gear and related substation equipment. Worked with on-site government and The Department of NAVY officials on identifying and implementing field change orders and the coordination of utility shut downs, outages and inspections.
I am confident that I am the ideal candidate for the position of Project Manager and look forward to further discussing my qualifications. I am happy to provide a list of references or additional information at your request.
Sincerely,
Thomas F. Burns
