ROCKWELL COLLINS Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Senior Project Manager, Senior Facilities Engineer 8/2000-Present
• Initiated Rockwell Collins first step into in-country spare parts for airlines with third party logistics provider (3PL) in China. Explored legal, tax and business model for operation overseas. Evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of establishing a legal entity. Conducted contract negotiation with 3PLs. Reworked existing IT order processing system to accommodate order communication with a 3PL warehouse to function as if it were a company owned warehouse.
• Managed $25M LEED inspired 150,000 sf office and lab building construction. Building is expected to perform at least as well as the first building constructed. Estimated annual energy savings are over $125,000.
• Managed $15M LEED Gold certified 120,000 sf office and lab building construction. The building beats ASHRAE 90.1-2004 standard by 17% and costs under $95/sf to build. Estimated annual energy savings are over $100,000. Negotiated with City Traffic Engineer on street development for project.
• Maintained 25 acres of roofs in Cedar Rapids with $1M annual on replacement & $300k on repair costs using life cycle replacement program, which leverages costs with lifetime of the asset. Acted as expert roofing consultant on other company owned roofs across nation.
• Purchased and managed all natural gas purchases totaling in excess of $2M annually. Reduced utility costs by 40% over 3 years by locking in prices prior to the big run up to $10 and over.
• Created internal, annual Energy Week for energy awareness, a week long daily brown bag of presentations on topics related to energy efficiency/awareness. This event replaced the company's previous energy conservation plan.
• Started and lead Facilities Communities of Practice (CoP) to discuss facilities/energy issues w/other Rockwell Collins managers across U.S. Teleconferenced meetings leverage our experiences and expertise. Set up Guru list for facilities topics as the “go to†people and Facilities Best Practices list to share best practice projects and company standards within company.
• As the Facilities representative on the ISO 14001 steering committee, helped company achieve ISO 14001 certification for our largest facility.
• Achieved Lean Champion certification by leading and participating in various Burst's, RPI’s and VSM’s.
