Professional Experience
Ellis Steel Inc., 622 Highway 45 N West Point, MS 39773
Feb 2008-July 2009; March 2009-June 2009
One of about 8 fitters in Plant 1 Bay 3 that took beams or pipe and “fit†them with the necessary pieces to complete the work. This was accomplished by reading the blueprints and corresponding them to the pieces of steel. A stick welder was used with 6013 and 7018 rods. Occasionally I was in charge of manning the 5 ton crane to bring the work to my area.

As a production tester for a major Canadian oil company, I was on a crew that worked 21 days on and 7 days off, 12 hours a day. Once an oil rig was drilled, we would go in and tie into the well with an 18-wheeler diffuser unit that would flow the oil into it and separate the good oil from the water and other liquids that were in it. This all included fitting 20 foot sections of pipe from the unit to the well, as well as from the well to the sand pit for all the waste to go to. Our crew was also responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of our unit to insure proper safety precautions up to par with OSHA standards.

Attended Technical School at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS from August of 2002 until April of 2003. It was here that I received my training for becoming a civil engineer. Everything from concrete layout to framework, roofing, block layout, sheet metal fabrication and welding. Was chosen directly from tech school to be stationed in Europe for 3 years, most of which was spent in the metal shop as a welder. Also was a part of the RRR (Rapid Runway Repair) team for wartime situations. As a prerequisite of being on this team, it was required to train on all of the heavy equipment that was an integral part of runway repair. I was a member of an augmented team which meant that in a crisis, I would be assigned as a security forces officer. I took extensive time to also learn the carpentry aspect of construction. Many large tools and machinery were a requirement to be well trained on. The remainder of my enlistment was spent in North Dakota. The majority of my time there was spent doing various structural fixes and replacements. From things as small as door handles to large garage bay doors, I knew and continue to know how to repair them.

I worked for a crew that was contracted out to work at Weyerhaeuser Pulp and Paper Complex. It was my responsibility to make sure that over 2,500 air filters were changed over the entire plant every month. This meant changing air filters of all shapes and sizes on many different types of air conditioning units inside and outside the plant. It was also my responsibility to keep an up to date and accurate inventory of all of the changed filters as well as the filters in storage so that it would be easier to order exactly what was needed for the following month. During my time there, I also drew up a series of maps for each individual building on the plant so that I knew exactly what type of filter went where and the exact number and size of filter for that building and unit.
American Trouser Company, Columbus, MS 39702

In my time at this company, I was trained as a forklift operator. It was my responsibility to take boxes of denim that had been sewn and place a shipment label on them as well as take an inventory of what was in each box and where each individual box was going. Then I loaded these onto 45 foot and 53 foot containers to be shipped out.
