Thank you for considering my application. For the past 20 years I have been a communications professional with broad experience spanning diverse platforms including commercial television, radio, web, print and new media. I am very interested in taking my career to the next level while elevating your organization’s image.
After graduating with honors from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, I ran the news desk at Seattle's top-rated television station, NBC affiliate KING. I then moved to Tampa, Florida to help launch what was then a brand new ABC affiliate, WFTS, where I shifted my focus to writing, producing and editing promotional and marketing materials. Washington, DC's ABC affiliate, WJLA, subsequently recruited me to manage their branding efforts.
A few years later, I was invited to build a creative services team from scratch for the highly-specialized, military-oriented worldwide cable and satellite outlet, the Pentagon Channel, winning multiple Promax and Broadcast and Design Association awards for the organization in the process. During that tenure, I also frequently wrote feature stories for the Department of Defense news site, Defenselink. Finally, I was recruited by Chevron Corporation to write stories for their award-winning internal communications department.
I am looking for the perfect opportunity to flex my creative, editorial and marketing muscles to help a meaningful organization achieve greater visibility, effectiveness and overall success. I would love an opportunity to further discuss this with you.
Very respectfully,
David Mays
