Job Profile:
Working on research and development (R&D) of Air-cooled, Hydrogen cooled and Hydrogen
+ Water cooled Turbo Generators of ALSTOM and non-ALSTOM make.
My nature of work includes the following:
• Carrying out feasibility studies on generator components having site issues.
• Analysing issues with the generator components and developing cost effective
solutions/techniques to resolve each issue.
• Carrying out conceptual design and detailed mechanical design of the generator
components as part of new solution. This also involves testing and verifying the
prototype.
• Supporting Alstom global R&D team in execution of the global R & D projects.
R&D Projects presently being handled:
Project-1
Title : Develop cost-effective solutions to overcome the issues with 210 MW
ELECTROSILA (OOEM) make Turbogenerator Stators in India.
Team Size : 5
My Role : Project Leader (Responsible for executing the project)
Description : The Russian ELECTROSILA make turbogenerators are operating at different
locations in India since many years. In the recent past, these Russian designed
generators are developing faults in the generator stator that are critical for the
serviceability and lifetime. The project objective is to analyse the stator
weaknesses and develop cost effective solutions by redesigning/modifying the
stator components, which have technological deficiencies. Thus improve the
serviceability and lifetime of stators.
Project-2
Title : Develop cost-effective solutions to overcome the thermal issues with 110 MW
SKODA (OOEM) make Turbogenerator Rotors in India.
Team Size : 5
My Role : Project Leader (Responsible for executing the project)
Description : The Czechoslovak designed SKODA turbogenerators are operating at various
locations in India since many years. In the recent past, it was found that
SKODA generator rotor end-winding regions are getting overheated during the
operation due to inefficient cooling. The project objective is to analyse the
Page 3 of 6
rotor weaknesses and develop cost effective solutions by
redesigning/modifying the rotor ventilation circuit to improve the cooling.
Thus improve the serviceability and lifetime of rotors.
