RESEARCH EXPERIENCE_____________________________________________________
WPI, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Worcester, MA
Doctoral Student / Research Assistant 09/2006 - Present
 Explored thermal properties of different existing airport asphalt samples and conducted laboratory tests and finite element analysis.
 Determined the energy produced from small scale asphalt mixes by allowing constant heat radiation transfer from its surfaces and measured the temperature differences from water outlet.
 Constructed and conducted experiments on large scale asphalt slabs with copper pipes embedded. Evaluated the temperature gradient at different asphalt slab layers and analyzed the relationships among heat radiation, wind velocity, and water flow rate, as well as efficiency of energy produced from the asphalt slabs.
 Optimized the pipe spacing and length for asphalt slabs using finite element analysis.
 Examined feasibility of reducing Urban Heat Island Effect by testing quartzite and conventional asphalt aggregates.
 Investigated the swelling potential of biopolymer-stabilizer (sulfate-rich clay).
POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE OF NYU, Department of Civil Engineering Brooklyn, NY
Research Assistant 09/2003 - 05/2006
 Performed and completed preliminary research on non-destructive technologies for monitoring aging condition of structures and materials, which include acoustic emission, fiber optic spectrum analysis, and image signal process.
UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD, Department of Civil Engineering Hartford, CT
Research Assistant 09/2001 - 08/2002
 Completed preliminary research on Global Land Ice Measurements from Space project.
 Investigated glacial activity in Pakistan region for the last 30 years.
 Performed preliminary research on remote sensing technologies to integrate the GLIMS project.
