HOUSTON, TEXAS - 9/2001 ~ 4/2003
SWINERTON BUILDERS TEXAS
Removal and replacement of existing architectural finishes with new lighting, sound and fire alarm systems in over 2000 feet of the subterranean Inter-Terminal Train Tunnel. Removal of over 2000 feet of existing 10 inch hot water mechanical piping. Installation of over 2000 feet of 14 inch hot water mechanical piping, over 1500 feet of 10 inch hot water mechanical piping, and over 1500 feet of 24 inch chilled water mechanical piping. Project also included the replacement of 12 existing hot and chilled water pumps to new modern speed controlled types. Included in this work was the addition of over 400 state of the art sensor devices used for monitoring temperature, flow, level, and pressure in the various mechanical piping systems throughout four existing airport terminals and the ITT train tunnel. The controls added for these sensors could then be monitored from one central plant location via computer. The scope of this job required two work shifts; one daytime and one nighttime when the train could be shut down and all the mechanical piping could then be placed overhead above the train area. All of the mechanical piping was installed through two points cut through the lid of the concrete ITT Tunnel and then moved into place and welded by the use of hangers and rollers.
