GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING
Professional Service Industries (PSI), Wilmington, MA (2005 to 2009)
Staff Engineer conducting geotechnical site investigations involving test borings and test pits. Also, observe, monitor, and report on construction site geotechnical activities. As Radiation Safety Officer was responsible for the training, use, and storage of nuclear moisture-density gauges.
Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation
Geotechnical Laboratory Supervisor (1990 to 1999)
Responsibilities included supervision of the laboratory personnel, ensuring compliance with established procedures, maintenance and calibration of equipment, as well as ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of test data. Worked on laboratory testing programs for projects involving power plants, dams, tunnels, and highways.
Conducted a testing program for the Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel Project in Boston. Was responsible for a team of technicians and subcontractors performing over 5000 hours of testing soil and rock samples.
Geotechnical Division Engineer (1983 to 1989)
Responsible for testing soil and rock to determine their engineering characteristics. Tasks included writing reports, checking data, and calibrating equipment. Performed field investigations obtaining soil and rock samples. Also responsible for the installation and qualification of GEOCOMP’s GEOLOG data acquisition system in the Geotechnical Laboratory.
Geotechnical Engineers, Inc., Winchester, MA (1981 to 1982)
As a Staff Engineer performed on-site boring inspection (including classification of soil and installation of instruments), pile-driving inspection, and compaction control. Also worked in the soils laboratory on index tests, compaction tests, consolidation and triaxial tests.
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
Briggs Engineering, Rockland, MA (2005)
Inspector on the City of Boston, Public Works Department, construction inspection unit, March 2005 to May 2005. Worked with the highway division, responsible for inspecting and reporting on the repair of city sidewalks by contractors.
Shaw Group - Environmental & Infrastructure Division (1998 to 2003)
Office Engineer on the CP-2 contract of the MetroWest Water Supply Tunnel Project, July-November 2003. Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly summary progress reports, logging, reviewing, and routing of the contractor submittals and change/clarification requests, providing changes to contract specifications and drawings, working with inspectors, and assisting the Resident Engineer.
Shift Engineer/Inspector, 1998 to 2003. Responsible for overseeing the contractor's work on construction of a hard-rock tunnel. Monitored TBM mining for production and rock stability; inspected installation, grouting, and repair of the tunnel’s concrete lining, the construction of surface structures, and installation of water and sewer piping.

Shift Engineer on the Boston Harbor Project, both the Inter-Island and the Outfall tunnels. As part of the construction-management team, my tasks were similar to the project above.

As Senior Engineer, was responsible for the sampling of twelve groundwater monitoring wells on a quarterly basis as part of a post-remediation groundwater monitoring program. After a laboratory chemical analysis, prepared a report of the sampling data, field and laboratory test results, quality control results, and a groundwater contour map.

As an Assistant Party Chief from 1974 to 1977 on the survey crew, surveyed city roads, state highways, and sewer lines through all stages of construction.
