OBJECTIVE
To apply my formal education and practical experience in an Engineering or Project Management capacity.
SUMMARY
Ms. Shah is a Mechanical Engineer with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and over six years of work experience. She has planned and managed engineering projects and has performed and supervised product design and engineering test control, analysis, coordination, testing and documentation through interactive client interface adhering to internal quality assurance guidelines or client specifications and codes. She has worked extensively in the areas of Computer Aided Design (2D and 3D CAD – AutoCAD, Inventor, ProE, SolidWorks), Heat Transfer and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD – Flow 3D, Fluent, In-house codes).
She has experience in prototype testing and documentation of test results along with Numerical Analysis. She has worked on numerous projects involving Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using model and mesh generation tools and internal and commercial codes and equipment performance platforms. She has also performed heat transfer analysis of HVAC failure scenarios and room heat loads to determine the room transient temperature profile (using GOTHIC). She has experience creating and modifying internal, client and vendor CAD models and assemblies and designing layouts based on requirements. She has supervised installations, provided technical support to clients, conducted training sessions for sales representatives throughout the country, prepared/reviewed Bills of Materials (BOM) and created/maintained inventory lists.
EDUCATION
MS, Mechanical Engineering, University of Illinois at Chicago
BS, Mechanical Engineering, M.S. University, India
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Sr. Mechanical Engineer ALION Science & Technology, Philadelphia, PA (Dec 2005 - Oct 2009)
• Project Management
ï€ Managed and supported management of projects for various Power Plants: from writing proposals and project plans based on client requirements to planning, training & leading teams, scheduling and delivering within budget following strict deadlines.
ï€ Worked with purchasing staff to obtain required parts, equipments and services and invoicing staff at the end of a successful project completion.
ï€ Planned and led testing efforts of client and internal prototypes and documented the results of testing efforts and analysis.
• CAD
ï€ Modeled and modified existing systems, components, and hardware through CAD modeling for design analysis efforts for Nuclear Power Plant Containment Sump Systems.
ï€ Modeled test systems including test prototypes and test equipments using CAD to support additions and improvements in the company’s Hydraulic Test Lab.
ï€ Created test assembly models using internal, client and vendor CAD models after review and modifying the same per requirements.
• CFD and Heat Transfer
ï€ Simulated containment pool flow fields after a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) using CFD analysis and made recommendations to Nuclear Power Plants based on post processing of results.
ï€ Resolved flow fields during test sequences using CFD analysis and compared with test results to benchmark the use of commercial CFD codes in the Nuclear Industry.
ï€ Performed heat transfer analysis of HVAC failure scenarios and room heat loads in Nuclear Power Plants to determine the room transient temperature profile using GOTHIC.
• Quality Assurance
ï€ Adhered to internal and client QA programs while managing projects, testing and documentation (preparing, reviewing and modifying test plans, project plans, test procedures, test analysis reports, calculations).
ï€ Ensured design compliance of products with internal quality assurance program or respective client specifications and codes as appropriate.
Systems Engineering Consultant (Consultant through Alion Science & Technology)
SmartSignal Corp., (Feb ‘06-May ‘06, Feb ‘08-Sept ‘08)
• Lead a team that provided consulting services using their proprietary software product – to assist the Project Manager in serving their clients.
• Helped project task flow and organization, helped maintain the flow in information between company and their clients, updated documentation, tracked changes to data models, and troubleshot problematic data provided by clients.
Mechanical Engineer North Star Lighting Inc., Camera Lowering Systems, Broadview, IL (Feb 2004-Dec 2005)
• Technical Sales and Project Management
ï€ Customized solutions for customer needs by competitive evaluations and assessment of cost and feasibility.
ï€ Developed cost & time estimates and operational studies depending on workloads and parts availability.
ï€ Prepared bids or quotes and proposal specifications based on requirements of clients such as DOT (Department of Transportation), universities, theaters etc throughout the country for manual and electronic lowering systems for lights and cameras.
ï€ Hired sales associates, provided training regarding post-sales technical support and conducted progress reviews.
ï€ Planned and presented at special events, Trade Shows and presentations with customers.
• Engineering
ï€ Defined initial concept including scope, specification sheets, drawings (using CAD packages) and designed layouts. Made detail part drawings from engineering sketches and layouts.
ï€ Created assembly drawings and oversaw the assembly line.
ï€ Prepared Bills of Materials (BOMs) and created/maintained parts inventory tracking lists. Ensured fluidity by analyzing current capacity and coordinating equipment and part purchases to meet project schedules and ship dates.
ï€ Supervised final installations and managed marketing documentations.
• Quality Assurance Ensured quality control for internal parts and assemblies in accordance with industry standards and external contracts by reviewing consultants submitted product data to ensure compliance with the proposed design and material specifications.
