EXPERIENCE:
-Dec 2007 to present: Non Nuclear Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor on board USS Memphis SSN-691. Trained and supervised nine junior mechanics in the proper techniques of preventive and corrective maintenance, system trouble shooting, diagnosis, repair and testing. Supervised and coordinated the repairs to the ships Emergency Diesel Engine between Four ships force members, and Twelve members of two outside activities which led to 100% Engine restoration ahead of the prescribed time line. Trained five junior Mechanics in the Quality Assurance Program, to include program fundamentals, forms used, and QA package creation. I am a certified Quality Assurance Inspector, Oxygen Clean Worker, Gas system cleanliness inspector. I have performed repairs to Hydraulic, and Pneumatic control valves, Hydraulic accumulators, Electrolytic Oxygen Generators, pumps, motors, blowers, compressors, and refrigeration system grooming and repair.
-Dec2004-Dec 2007: Supervisor for shop (56B/AC&R) Naval Submarine Support Facility New London CT. Trained Seven military and two civilians in the removal and replacement of R-134a refrigeration compressors, overhaul and testing of R-134a compressors. Evacuation of refrigerant for repairs involving braze work to system piping and components. Coordinated and spearheaded the replacement of a 35 year old Liquid Nitrogen trailer with a more cost effective Nitrogen Generator estimated to save the US Navy $50,000 annually in bulk Liquid Nitrogen purchases. Engineered the installation of an R-134a Refrigeration compressor test stand, estimated to save the US Navy $50,000 annually in R-134a Refrigeration compressor replacements.
-Mar 2001-Dec 2004: Non Nuclear Mechanical Supervisor on board USS Nebraska SSBN-739G. Managed and Supervised 15 Military personnel in the proper techniques of preventive and corrective maintenance, system trouble shooting and repair, Hydraulic plant operation and grooming, Pneumatic system operation and component overhaul. Divisional Preventive Maintenance Coordinator, scheduled, planned and assigned daily maintenance items, update and record completed items, worked directly with the Command Maintenance Coordinator. Trained all junior Mechanics in the areas of using Maintenance Standards, system drawings, blueprints, mechanical schematics, technical work documents.
-Apr 1998-Feb 2001: Senior Mechanic on board USS San Juan SSN-751. Performed the duties as Divisional training coordinator, generate quarterly, monthly and weekly training assignments, schedule training topics with lecturer, discuss training plan with immediate supervisors. Performed preventive and corrective maintenance instruction and training with junior mechanics to give them the hands on training required to better understand their role as a mechanic with the US Navy.
-Aug 1990-Jan 1995: Junior mechanic on board USS Augusta SSN-710. Performed preventive and corrective maintenance on Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Pumps, Blowers, Compressors, Atmosphere control equipment. Handled the Divisional flexible hose program, performed a complete reconstruction to bring the program up to date and to bring all hoses into the required testing periodicity.
