RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant, North Carolina State University (December 2008 – present)
Thesis title: Optical Gas Quality Sensor for Natural Gas and Opportunity Fuels
Developed a real-time optical gas quality sensor which uses NIR absorption spectroscopy to characterize multi-component fuel gas at line-pressure. Developed a LabVIEW application using queued state machine architecture for sensor hardware control and high speed data acquisition. Modeled synthetic absorption spectra of hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide.
INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE
Intern, Gas Technology Institute, Des Plaines, IL (June – July 2009)
Designed and developed a prototype of the real-time gas quality sensor and lab-tested it to validate the performance at predicting natural gas composition and heating value
Software Engineer, Accenture Services Pvt Ltd., Bangalore, India (June 2006 – July 2008)
Managed a project team of 10 Associate Software Engineers and trained the team in software testing of web based applications. Coordinated between onshore and offshore teams
PATENTS
Method for correcting optical absorption measured experimentally using a spectroscopic sensor to minimize errors due to optical instabilities - variations in light source temperature, irradiance, background noise and spectral detector sensitivity drift (patent application under examination at the US Patent and Trademark Office)
