Michoud Operations is based in New Orleans, LA., builds the external fuel tanks for the Space Shuttle.
Staff Procurement Engineer/ Procurement Technical Field Representative 2002 - Present
Successfully conduct supplier oversight activities for contracts in excess of $10 million at a variety of aerospace suppliers and processing companies. Accountable for flight hardware production to support downstream customer production and assembly needs to maintain NASA flight support. Successful in continuously leading multidisciplinary efforts to resolve technical, quality, and delivery issues in the manufacturing and shipping of flight hardware. Oversaw and worked extensively with supplier quality assurance to review hardware qualifications to ensure conformity to procurement drawing and flight requirements.
Contributions & Accomplishments:
After acquiring a new Propulsion Line supplier discovered they had been using an incorrect weld wire in the production of propulsion lines for the Space Shuttle External Tank program during a review of drawings, and production planning. Incident was investigated and all production planning was revised to require weld wire inspection and buyoff by quality engineering. Lockheed Management awarded a Directors Spot Award for the attention to detail and discovery of the issue.
Senior Procurement Engineer 1996 - 2002
Continuously supported the Procurement Department as the representative to the Technical and Engineering Change Management board, Change Planning Board, and Project Review Board to coordinate all proposed changes design and production changes to department to evaluate impacts to suppliers and production needs. Worked on multidisciplinary teams to perform subcontractor capability surveys to evaluate a suppliers current work load, machine/ tooling availability, and historical performance to support prospective new contracts.
Contributions & Accomplishments:
Investigated and implemented a packaging design change after the discovery of damaged Liquid Hydrogen and Oxygen diffusers that were found after being issued to production from inventory.
