Cheltenham High School, Philadelphia Pa. Project Manager responsible for all technical direction, supervision of manpower scheduling and budget control for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical design and engineering for the renovation of a 367,000 foot building.
Black Horse Regional High School, Erial, NJ. Project Manager responsible for all technical direction, supervision of manpower scheduling and budget control for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical design and engineering for a new 260,000 square foot high school.
Wall Township High School Wall, NJ. HVAC consultant responsible for reviewing HVAC design and engineering for compliance with mechanical codes and standard.
Stone & Webster Corporation, Cherry Hill, NJ. (3/74 to 2/99)
Chief Mechanical Engineer responsible for mechanical technical direction, manpower requirements, scheduling, and budget control for a variety of energy savings projects. These projects included conceptual design for district cooling chilled water plants for two facilities in Boston and one in Chicago. The Boston Facilities were for Northwing a subsidiary of Boston Edison and in Chicago for Unicom a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison. Other projects included the replacement of an existing electric driven chiller that provided cooling to the large fish tanks with a 200 ton natural gas engine driven chiller for the New Jersey State Aquarium.
AT&T. Project Engineer responsible for supervision of engineering and technical direction for the review of 142 AT&T network systems communication facilities throughout the U.S. The review included evaluating the central pant heating and cooling systems and associated air handler distribution systems and controls. The results of the evaluations provided conceptual designs that were used to increase the reliability and capacity of the existing HVAC systems.
FAA - Pomona, NJ. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of design and engineering of the HVAC and plumbing systems for a flight simulator testing and administrative facility. The HVAC systems included hot water heating and DX air conditioning system utilizing a variable air volume air distribution system and DDC controls.
FAA- Pomona, NJ. Project Engineer responsible for the supervision of design and engineering related to the replacement of two 400 boiler horsepower (HP) medium temperature hot water boilers with 3-300 boiler HP medium temperature hot water. Existing shell and tube heat exchangers were replaced with new plate and frame heat exchangers to provide low temperature water for heating.
Boeing Helicopters, Ridley Park, PA. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of design and engineering of all HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for a hazardous materials storage and supply facility. The HVAC systems included DX cooling systems and hot water heating systems supplying 100% outside air to areas which contained highly corrosive type chemicals.
Burlington Generating Station, Public Service Electric & Gas Company. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of HVAC design and engineering for four new co-generation plants totaling 256 MW. System design included heating and ventilating of the turbine building and Dx-type air-conditioning of the control room and electronic equipment areas.
Anitec Co-generation Plant, Binghamton, NY, Co-generation Partnership Limited. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of HVAC design and engineering for a 50-MW co-generation plant. System design included heating and ventilating of the turbine building, gas compressor building, and the water treatment building. Dx-type air conditioning was provided for the control room and electronic equipment areas.
Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, FL. Project Engineer responsible for supervision of a preliminary evaluation, design, and engineering to replace the existing constant volume 4,000-ton chilled water system with a new variable volume 4,000-ton chilled water system. In addition, the design included a new 600-ton variable volume chilled water system and associated 600-ton cooling tower and pumps.
Salem Generating Station, Public Service Electric & Gas Company. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the preparation of a department change package (DCP) for the air-conditioning of a telecommunications room, including calculations, design, 10CFR50.59 review and safety evaluation, and other change package documentation to implement the required design change.
New Jersey Water Supply Authority, Clinton, NJ. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of the renovation of the administration Building HVA System The design included replacement of existing steel hot water boiler with modular boilers and repiping of existing unit ventilators. New air handlers were provided for ventilation.
New Jersey Transit Bus Maintenance Facility, Newark, NJ. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for supervision of HVAC, plumbing, and drainage system design and engineering for a 1,000,000 sq ft bus maintenance and storage facility. System design included direct and indirect gas fired heating systems, hot water heating systems, infrared heating systems, direct expansion variable air volume system, dust collections systems, combustion air exhaust systems, paint spray booth exhaust systems, welding booth exhaust systems, sanitary plumbing and drainage, roof drainage, floor drains, indirect waste drains, oil water separators, and a compressed air system. In addition, diesel oil and gasoline fuel systems with buried double containment storage tanks, water reclamation system, service piping for lube oil, antifreeze, grease and transmission fluid were provided.
Early Childhood Learning Center, Washington Township, NJ. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of HVAC, plumbing, and drainage system design and engineering for the Washington Township New Jersey Early Childhood Learning Center. System design included plumbing and sanitary drainage for each classroom’s toilet facilities. HVAC systems utilizing self-contained heat pump unit ventilators. Also site sanitary drains and engineering of the storm water retention basin were provided.
New Jersey Bell Telephone Company, Madison, New Jersey. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of HVAC design and engineering. The design included the addition of a 500-ton chiller to their existing three-chiller 1500-ton system. A new cooling tower and pumps provided cooling water to the chiller. The chilled water was supplied to a new air handling unit which provided cooled air to the new electrical uninterrupted power
supply (UPS) equipment and battery rooms. All the existing chilled water pumps were replaced and the existing piping systems and controls modified.
New Jersey Bell Telephone, East Orange, NJ. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of HVAC design and engineering of a 100-ton ice thermal storage system for New Jersey Bell, East Orange, New Jersey office facility. The design included the addition of a 100-ton ice harvesting system, pumps, evaporative cooling tower and associated controls. The system provided low temperature chilled water to the building's existing air-handling system.
River Bend Station - Unit, Gulf States Utilities Company. Lead Facilities Engineer, responsible for supervision of a study to determine whether operating 4- to 50-percent control building chillers can operate as 4- to 100-percent chillers. Calculations using current electrical loads were done, and revised cooling coil performances were obtained. This data was used to establish chiller load and air handler performance requirements.
Jersey Central Power and Light Company, Morristown, NJ. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of HVAC design and engineering of 300-ton ice thermal storage systems for an office building and electronics communication center. The design included the addition of a 300-ton ice harvesting thermal storage system which makes ice during the off-peak electrical hours. The ice is melted during the day and provides a source of chilled water for the air handling units’ cooling coils. Cooling towers were provided as the heat sink for the ice harvesting units. The cooling tower water was recovered and used to provide heat during the winter months. An energy management system was provided to automatically control and cycle on the HVAC equipment as required.
Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station, Detroit Edison Company. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for supervising the preparation of change packages for the addition of a charcoal filtration system for the health physics laboratory hood exhaust system. Change packages include calculations, specifications, design 10CFR50.59 review and safety evaluation and other change package documentation to implement the required design change.
Huntington Production Facility, Olympus Corporation. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the design and engineering of a central hot water heating and chilled water system. The system supplied heating and cooling water to air-handing units providing air to class I clean room areas and drug packaging areas.
Wayne Junction Static Frequency Converter - Phase II, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for supervision of design and engineering; preparation of HVAC, plumbing, and drainage calculations; equipment selection; and preparation of equipment specifications for a static frequency converter facility, a 230-kV substation area, and a traction power building.
River Bend Station - Unit I, Gulf States Utilities Company - Lead Facilities Engineer responsible for the supervision of all HVAC, plumbing , and fire protection design and engineering associated with the installation of a 1100 MW nuclear power plant. HVAC systems included 3 central plant chilled water systems totaling 7000 tons, unit coolers, central air handling stations, large ventilation systems, and charcoal filtration units.
Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station - Unit 2, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation - Mechanical Engineer responsible for the preparation of HVAC load calculations, conceptual system design, preparation of HVAC system flow diagrams, equipment selections, and co-ordination of design for all HVAC systems in the reactor building.
