My 11 years in the Environmental Consulting business, 3 years in construction and 8 years co-owning and running a Bed & Breakfast represent the bulk of my work experience. But there is more, I have experience serving on City Boards and Commissions and starting and serving on a Non-Profit organization board. I also have interests in photography and numerous sports activities. The day-to-day operation of the Inn is my responsibility, including the repairs and maintenance of the 108 year old Victorian home, house keeping, book keeping, marketing, guest hospitality, and relations with local merchants, chambers and the City.

I was Jim’s “right hand man.†He taught me everything he needed me to do including wiring, framing, trim work, plumbing, brick laying, cabinet installation, window & door installation, sheetrock installation, lighting installation, scraping, painting, etc. Within just a month I was working independently and he was collaborating with me on the work. We were a two-person team for 3 years.

My position evolved from mainly a field position, where I conducted numerous subsurface investigation activities such as soil sampling, monitoring well installation, hydraulic conductivity tests, surveying etc.; to an on-site field manager position, where I managed investigative activities for the fuel consortium and United Airlines at one of the largest Airports in the world (SFO). I was also responsible for writing all proposals and reports for our clients and on the team negotiating clean-up requirements with the CA EPA. The last couple of years at the firm I was mainly a project manager, where I was in charge of overseeing field activities, report writing, budget tracking, and presentations to our clients at SFO and other major airports.

BPA was a small company and my position required me to take charge of many facets of each project including conducting field work (ex.
