United Way of Palm Beach County is one of the largest nonprofits in Palm Beach County and the organization has been nationally recognized for its innovative program development in the area of helping people achieve self-sufficiency.
I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire organization including the supervision of 7 senior level managers and a staff of approximately 45-50 employees and 25-30 seasonal workers. The Board of Directors has 55 members.

• I managed a $2 million dollar renovation/new building project taking the 4 acre campus from 16,000 square feet of facilities to 21,000 square feet. The project was on budget and on schedule.
• I successfully managed the day-to-day operations allowing the CEO to be in the community advocating on our behalf. This included oversight of finance, revenue, program staff, administrative staff, Technology, building management and negotiation and execution of contracts including employee benefits.
• We consistently achieved high marks from auditors with no management letters.
• We consistently achieved low administration costs of 4% administration costs and 9% fundraising costs.
• Even with the difficulties around the slumping economy and three major hurricanes in the past five years we achieved budget carry-over funds each of the past five years.

Responsible for managing marketing and research for Sinclair Broadcast Group Stations, KDSM FOX 17 Des Moines, KGAN CBS 2, Cedar Rapids, WYZZ FOX 43, Peoria, IL, KBSI FOX 23 Paducah, KY, WDKA WB (LMA) Paducah, KY
• Managed research and provided advertisers with recommendations to buy advertising that helped increase revenue for the advertisers and the television stations.
• Assisted in the creation of Des Moines first-ever 9:00pm newscast in Des Moines an innovative use of resources by employing local reporters but actual newscast was broadcast from KGAN in Cedar Rapids, 100 miles away.
• Responsible for solving staff issues in the absence of the General Manager.

• Consistently achieved revenue goals across the group of five stations.
• Introduced the first-ever prime time, local newscast in Des Moines on the FOX affiliate. Advertising inventory in this newscast was consistently sold out.

I was responsible for managing marketing and research for Meredith, owner of 12 television stations (six in the top 40 television markets).

• Improved communications and instituted “best practices†among 12 stations in research, sales and promotions.
• Developed and facilitated sales research training and consistently received high-scores among participants for effectiveness of material and presentation.
• Successfully negotiated group-wide contracts with vendors for sales, research and promotions departments which created uniformity of resources used. This allowed stations to easily share and implement best practices across the television group.

• Managed overnight rating system, ratings analysis, created sales tools and managed all research software. Managed a training program of software tools for account executives.
• Coordinated all research projects including complex behavioral research, focus groups and news research.
• Managed the station’s Internet Web Task Force and assisted in finding solutions for computer network problems as the station-appointed technical team leader.
• Served as cable liaison for WPTV and negotiated retransmission consent every three years; conducted regular meetings with cable operators and coordinated projects such as local news broadcasts on CNN Headline and MSNBC.
