OBJECTIVE
To seek a challenging full time research & development and process position in chemical / semiconductor industry.
EDUCATION
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 3.82/4 2005 - May 2010 (Expected)
Ph.D., Chemical Engineering
Thesis : The constrained vapor bubble - on earth and in space
Advisors : Prof. Peter C. Wayner Jr. and Prof. Joel L. Plawsky
Indian Institute of Technology - Kharagpur 7.9/10 1998-2002
Bachelor of Technology, Chemical Engineering
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Patni Computer Systems, Mumbai, India Sr. Software Engineer 2002 - '05
Worked as module lead in two software development projects. I was responsible for providing software enhancements to GE Aircraft Engines warehousing and order shipping billing system.
Indian Oil Corporation, Haldia, India Summer Intern Summer 2001
Developed a model for the Farfural extraction column at the plant that helped predict viscosity index of the lube oil.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Grad. Research Assistant Fall 2005 - present
• Constrained Vapor Bubble on the International Space Station (NASA)
o Experimentally measured the nanometer scale film thickness using optical interferometry techniques and determined the contact angle and interface curvature of a transient liquid meniscus.
o Designed and created a loop heat pipe at our laboratory to study micro-scale transport phenomena at the contact line of a solid-liquid-vapor interface.
o Modeled the coupled heat-mass-momentum transport problem at the contact line to determine the interfacial energy transfer. Showed that slip may be a significant factor in micro-scale transport.
o Identified unique oscillation instability at the contact line and determined the underlying cause for its occurring.
o Created automated image analysis techniques to enhance and examine images to be obtained from the space experiments.
o Helped trouble shoot many showstoppers for the CVB experiment flown by NASA on the International Space Station (ISS) in 2009.
o Developed an axial heat transfer model for modeling the transport in the CVB heat pipe.
• Cooling of an LED (NSF-ERC)
o Developed models for the convective cooling of Gallium Nitride (GaN) Light Emitting Diode (LED) chips and compared theoretical heat transfer characteristics with experimental measurements. The analysis showed that LEDs built on GaN substrates had better heat transfer properties than those built on sapphire substrates.
• Low-k Dielectric Reliability Project (SRC)
o Developed procedure to test the reliability of porous SiCOH materials as low-k inter-layer dielectric for copper interconnects. Modeled drift-diffusion equation for copper transport through the dielectric using COMSOL.
National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India Summer Intern Summer 1999
Studied wavelet transforms for use in de-noising signals.
