Objective: To obtain a full time position performing engineering design and analysis in the nuclear industry.
Design Codes : API 579, ASME Section II, VIII Division I/II, API 650/653, ASCE7, B31.1, B31.3, B16.5
Employment: The Equity Engineering Group, Shaker Heights, OH 2007 - Present
Applied Mechanics Engineer
• Worked on numerical models for creep, involving FEA that had been implemented as a user subroutine in Abaqus. Methodology is used to determine Fitness for Service for boiler tubes
• Performed ASME Code calculations for Pressure Vessels and Piping, including minimum thickness, minimum design metal temperature, maximum pressure and minimum temperature calculations.
• Assisted in the publication of industry standards for Fitness-For-Service and Pressure Vessel Design in the areas of Creep, Fatigue and cylinder to conical transitions.
• Training in FEA (Abaqus) for design by analysis. Experience using both elastic and plastic models.
• Programmed Storage Tank Design Rules per ASCE 7/API 650 in Fortran. Considers stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steel storage tanks as well as high temperature, wind and earthquake loading.
• Spent time on-site at an oil refinery to help with a piping flexibility analysis. Determined clamped connection did not need to be replaced.
• Maintained a material database of properties. Performed statistical regression on this data to provide curve fits to be used when the data is programmed.
Engineering Consultants Group, Inc., Akron, OH 1999 – 2006
