WORK EXPERIENCE
Bridge Software Institute: (May, 09 – November, 09)
• Worked at the Bridge Software Institute at the University of Florida and performed quality analysis of their new software program “Design Tables†for their current Bridge analysis program “FB-Multipierâ€. These consist of force envelopes which identify the controlling load cases and coexisting forces at all critical locations in the bridge substructure. These tables will be available as excel files and thus it will be convenient for the bridge design engineer to export these design forces for further manipulation. FB-MultiPier currently provides the bi-axial strength interaction and demand/capacity ratio for all beam elements. While being a powerful design tool, especially for columns and piles, it is recognized that the program output must provide additional information to the bridge designer, especially when there are numerous load cases to contend with.
• Dynamic Analysis Validation for their current Bridge analysis program “FB-Multipierâ€.
Structural Analysis Software Development: (Nov, 08 – May, 09)
• Worked under Dr.Consolazio at the University of Florida & performed quality analysis for structural analysis software named “MathSAP†based on direct stiffness method on the platform MathCAD, wrote numerous codes for various error checks.
Shapoorji Pallonji Co. LTD: Worked as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in the famous construction firm in India. (July, 07– June, 08)
• Scheduling, tracking and monitoring of project, preparation of daily, monthly & weekly progress reports.
• Checking quality of materials, Quantity Surveying, preparing monthly management information systems
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
• Finite Element Analysis: FE analysis of pipe and slab using shell and plate theory and analyzed for effective & principal stress pattern and the effect of non linear material to identify the critical sections.
• Design of Prestressed Beam and Post-Tensioned Slab: Worked in a group for the design, fabrication and testing of 17 ft long Prestressed Beam for given load combination to participate in the ‘Big Beam’ contest organized by Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). Additionally, PT-Slab was designed using ACI-08, PCI & PTI manuals.
• Seismic Analysis: Analyzed a 10 storey building using response spectrum analysis (RSA) method in accordance with the 2003 NEHRP seismic design provisions to determine seismic loads and design forces for use in a subsequent structural adequacy assessment.
• Design of Shallow Foundation System: Involved in group project of design of continuous strip footing for an educational building at the University of Florida using ASD and LRFD specifications and using ACI-08 provisions. Footing size was determined using settlement and bearing capacity analysis.
• Design of Safe Haven Room: Worked in a group for the project of protective structures course to design a hardened safe haven room in an office building which are located in hardened cores which provide additional support for the building, and the rooms enable occupants to find a safe haven until an emergency is over.
