My objective has always been to be a dependable worker and perform the work given to me by my superiors using the criteria required by the various building, concrete, and steel codes.
Mr. McManus is a structural engineer with 37 years of experience in engineering design, construction, and related work for heavy industrial, nuclear power, fossil power, commercial, and government interests.
Approximately 14 years of the above experience has been doing structural engineering work with McGuire Nuclear Plant, Brunswick Nuclear Plant, Watts Bar Nuclear Plant and other nuclear plants in eastern United States. The type of work varies from preparing and checking specifications, calculations and drawings. Moreover, there is experience with walk-downs using piping acceptance criteria and bounding cases for the outlier resolution.
The heavy industrial engineering market has given me 17 years of experience in the paper mill, alcoholic beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, petrochemical, and gas utility industries.
With Southern Company Services, Mr. McManus was a Structural Engineer. His project experience includes the following:
I preformed as a retrofit structural engineer for 6 years who designed steel structures, foundation structures, structural steel supports for piping, cable trays, and ducts. All of this work was performed on existing buildings or around them. In most cases I created final engineering drawings using AutoCAD and used STAAD-Pro for most structural frames and foundation designs.
With Jacobs, Mr. McManus was a Structural Engineer. His project experience includes the following:
(1) BOSTON1 PROJECT, Structural Engineer. I analyzed various tanks and equipment in the paper machine building and sized the foundation and pile quantities before the stop work order. Later, I analyzed and designed the Vacuum Pump, Motor & Reducer foundation, Sump Pump Pit and Sump area, and stack foundation. I sized the foundation for the mass ratios and the piles for the loads.
(2) ARIZONA CHEMICAL COMPANY, Structural Engineer. I designed the steel and cantilevered support post and bents for a long utility bridge. STAAD-Pro was used for the analysis to check the many load cases and lateral deflections.
(3) ABBOTT LABS, Structural Engineer. I check the inside pipe bridge calculations for the Manufacturing Building. I also designed 4 access platforms for equipment access in a clean area for the subject pharmaceutical client. I also designed the 19 Package units for modular construction for the Manufacturing Building.
(4) KELLOGGS MOUNTAIN TOP BAKING CO, Structural Engineer. I added a "Pop-Tart" and "Nutri-Grain Bar" product line for the Kellogg Co. It involved the analysis of an existing roof with the existing hanging equipment and proposed new equipment. I created the plans and details for the new hardware and the fixes for the beef-up work to strengthen the existing roof joist.
(5) Confidential Client, Structural Engineer. Designed a 560’ long pipe bridge and support pile and spread footing foundations using 90 and 136’ long typical box truss steel systems.
(6) Fluor Fernald, Structural Engineer, Cincinnati, Ohio. Environmental Management Project, AWR BOP Optimization. Analyzed the existing TTA Building foundation and determined the loads that the building would sustain. Designed the pipe bridge foundations for Silos No. 1 and No. 2.
(7) Confidential Client, Structural Engineer. Analyzed the existing foundation to receive the white water chest and couch pit under the proposed paper machine. Analyzed the existing PM Building to receive new basement equipment. Designed the white water chest and couch pit, equipment pads and foundation in the basement of the PM Building.
(8) Confidential Client, Structural Engineer. Designed the composite steel for the parent roll building and the converting building. Also designed the operating floor and roof moment connections for the all-frame braced converting building as well as the steel hatch for a 42 kip axial wheel load fork truck.
(9) Coors, Structural Engineer, Elkton, Virginia. Designed the roof girders and two mezzanine floor levels and checked the structural steel roof and mezzanine floor drawings for the packaging and warehouse buildings. Also designed a cable tray bridge and DA water tower, modified utility building roof steel for penetrations, and designed the equipment foundations in the utility building and the powerhouse building. Designed the chlorine contact chamber, parshall flume, water flumes, crossover platforms, and pump pads in the waste water treatment area as well as the structural steel, CMU walls, and some of the foundations for the core services building.
(10) Confidential Client Structural Engineer. Checked the foundations for the Paper Machine Building, Maintenance building, clarifier tanks, and structural steel, vacuum pumps, dry fiber building, and various heavy equipment.
(11) Abitibi, Structural Engineer, Lufkin, Texas. Designed a cable tray support bridge and the foundations for the D1 upflow and downflow tower structure.
(12) Confidential Client, Structural Engineer. Analyzed the structural steel for the existing Towel Machine Building and verified the structural adequacy of the moment connections, columns, beams, base plates, foundations, and horizontal and vertical bracing. Designed fixes for items found inadequate. Modified the existing structural steel floors for the Saveall and White Water Filter. Designed a cable tray utility bridge supported by existing steel.
(13) Confidential Client, Structural Engineer. Designed the structural steel for the Washer Building and designed the Washer Building foundations as well as surrounding equipment and tank foundations.
(14) BASF Corporation, Structural Engineer, Geismar, Louisiana. Designed the structural steel for the EO tower project and the R703B and R730B reactor vessel support structures (THF/PTHF expansion). Also designed the corresponding caisson foundations for the R703B and R730B structures.
(15) Confidential Client, Structural Engineer. Designed the structural steel and the utility structures for the KUFFS building.
(16) Confidential Client, Structural Engineer. Checked the ClO2 building foundation, the ERC204 building foundation, designed various utility bridge and equipment foundations, and checked O2 reactor area slabs. Designed structural steel, foundations, ground floor slabs, and elevated slabs for ECR543.
