Resume: work history and job experience
My name is Jerald Valento and I am a lifelong resident of Saint Paul. I am now in earnest search for new long term employment. Below is my work history and experience for your review.
My work experience has been in civil engineering, general contracting, construction management, and design build. I have also worked for two subcontractors (masonry and waterproofing.) Some of my projects involved working within existing and ongoing facilities, requiring the interaction with and consideration for the client’s needs to maintain their business operations. All were interesting and rewarding experiences which helped give me a broad perspective of management. I have performed many projects over the past thirty years in hard bid, negotiated, construction management, and design build delivery systems. My first two years in construction I worked at Clark Engineering in the civil engineering department.
Before and after military service and during class breaks in college I worked as a laborer in commercial construction, mainly with concrete and masonry crews. My first two years in construction after I graduated from college involved working at Clark Engineering in the civil engineering and surveying department. My professional career started as a field engineer on the Pillsbury Towers in Minneapolis. After a couple of years I moved into the office to start my professional career. Many of the companies I worked for self-performed various areas of work, such as concrete, masonry, and carpentry. I became adept in estimating these functions and often estimated these items for other project managers. Eventually I became more of the go to person for estimating, contracts, and scheduling. For my last several companies I was in charge of estimating and project management.
I have worked through the evolvement of the computer in the construction industry, starting with setting up my own estimating spreadsheets and then learning different types of commercial project management and estimating software. I even implemented and taught to a former company’s employees a new estimating software system. I have written a company’s formalized program for an estimating department and wrote a program for construction managers. For two different employers I was assigned to work on company claims for projects they had just completed (I was not involved in either of these projects previously.) In both cases I helped resolve and settle the claims. I took the general contractor licensing tests in 2009 for Kansas and Mississippi
I would appreciate and welcome the opportunity to review with you a position within your company which my background would aid and fill a need, as I have many years of experience working with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers in all phases of planning, developing and construction.
Thank you for your attention to my inquiry.
Sincerely
Jerald J Valento
