Brent J Chrabas (applicant) is a resourceful chemical engineer from the University of South Florida (USF) located in Tampa, FL. Sparked by his interest in learning at a young age followed by the culmination of advanced subjects through undergraduate academia while working his way through school and his most recent pursuit to research and education while in graduate school, this applicant has gained the tools necessary to be completive in today’s uncertain job market. The following information will provide introductory personal information on this applicant.
Brent Chrabas grew up in Seminole, FL where he attended Oakhurst Elementary School. In his adolescence he was able to perform all mathematics and spelling exercises of students two years ahead of him in school. He continued to advance as a student in the Extra Learning Program (ELP) and Gifted magnet programs offered by his elementary and middle school, respectively. Although eligible, he did not continue with the Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum offered at Seminole High School. Rather, he achieved financial independence before considering pursuing higher education with the help of the Florida Merit Scholarship (Bright Futures) that he attained in recognition of his academic prestige.
At the age of sixteen this applicant began working at a local sandwich shop where he was quickly promoted to a management position after being noticed as an honest and capable employee. His passion for culinary arts prompted him to gain employment at a prominent local seafood and steakhouse (Salt Rock Grill) where he started at a bus boy. After only two years he had gained experience working at every station in the kitchen, at the bar, and on the floor. By that time he was placed in a management position by the general manager. At the age of twenty one he was approached by the owner and executive chef to transfer to their new location and assist in preparations for its grand opening. It was close to this time that he had decided to continue his education at a community college while continuing to work.
Brent Chrabas fulfilled his general admission requirements for the undergraduate chemical engineering curriculum offered at the University of South Florida at the former Saint Petersburg Junior College located in Clearwater, FL. At the university level he took coursework in excess of his graduation requirements to fulfill his passion in the biological and medical sciences. He excelled in his unit operations / reactions laboratory courses while building relationships with his instructors and colleagues during the completion of his studies at USF. Upon his graduation he volunteered his expertise to the department chairperson (Dr Babu Josesph) with the goal of incorporating biological applications into the undergraduate curriculum. It was not long before he was given an opportunity to continue his education in the Graduate College of Chemical Engineering at USF and was in receipt of an offer of employment.
As a condition of his employment offer, this applicant was able to receive a tuition stipend and gained the responsibility of instructing the undergraduate chemical engineering laboratories during his graduate studies. As a student he was able to further integrate his understanding of avant-garde applications in the biological sciences to his chemical engineering training. As an instructor he was able to apply this knowledge to his work in the development and implementation of innovative laboratory exercises designed for his undergraduate students. Nearing the commencement of his graduate studies, Brent Chrabas was granted a chemical engineering discipline specific Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate by the state of California’s Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. His time spent in graduate school proved to be quite formidable to his professional character.
Brent Chrabas aspired to become a chemical engineer from a young age. He has fortified his exemplary academic qualifications and professional certification by obtaining the applicable knowledge necessary to effectively manage projects through his work experience in which developing integral relationships with colleagues was necessary to successfully complete common objectives. Brent Chrabas has hopes of gaining fulfilling employment in either the energy, pharmaceutical, or environmental sector where he would then pursue his ambition to be found rewarding of the accolade of becoming a Professional Engineer.
