Career notes May 3, 2010
I have always worked as a member of a multi professional team.
I have been responsible and accountable for projects in the $30m range.
I am conversant with engaging in developing relationships with stakeholders, consultants and supply chain vendors.
I am familiar with the complexities of risk management and the decision consequences.
My initial training within architectural practices in London, Torquay and as a student in Sweden gives me a familiarity with design drawings and the detailing elements of a project.
My training within structural engineering offices in Belgium has given me an understanding of concrete and steel construction and their elements.
My training in Bahrain as the site representative of a British telecoms company enabled me to understand and appreciate the complexities of Quantity Surveying and the subsequent pricing of components.
My exposure to the use of management software, including PrimaVera and MS Project has allowed me to understand the complex breakdown of project management and subsequent control and monitoring. With severe consequences when Critical Path items are not addressed in time.
I have worked within the control of the Health and Safety blanket on many projects and been appointed the Safety Officer on large jobs.
I have enrolled onto a 30hour OSHA safety course which will be in the next few weeks, this is an ideal way to keep up with new trends and ideas.
I am a team player and have had the opportunity to wear many hats during my career.
I have studied many educational courses in UK and various countries and recently forwarded my certificates to the Chartered Institute of Building who has confirmed that my level of education would now allow me an entrance into a Masters program.
I believe that I understand my knowledge areas and limitations and am always seeking to improve my exposure to new skills.
I am courageous in the way that I approach my personal and business life and am a great believer of the optimistic approach.
I learn every day and am a good listener, especially during the problem solution phase that clients always have to be guided through.
I agree that jobs get done by sheer dynamics, tenacity, commitment and a love of being a CM /PM.
