MBA COURSE WORK
*Operations Management-A factory simulation was a key component
in the understanding of the interaction of different stations
within a factory. In order to avoid bottlenecks, you must first
predict where they will happen and to what extent. By comparing
this information with a break-even analysis of an upgrade, a
company can make a cost effective decision on whether the
opportunity costs outweigh the investment costs.
*Managerial Accounting-Kaplan’s Balanced Scorecard Theory stating
that company wealth is created when three other organizational
objectives foster: 1) employee growth and learning 2) an
efficient internal process and 3) consumer value added.
*Negotiation Strategies-A class that devoted much of its time to
formulating a negotiation strategy to determine target and
resistance points for a particular conciliation. This class
emphasized learning tactics used by the other party and counter
actions used to remediate situations. An emphasis was also placed
on the fact that when both parties adequately negotiate, it
creates a win-win environment for all.
*New Ventures I & II-Conceiving a new company was the center
focus of these two classes. A heavy focus was placed on market
analysis and forecasting to ensure that the product or service
would meet the needs of the current clientele environment.
PROJECTS
*New Constr. of Newtown Township Admin. Building, 2008, 1800 SF
Use of a Building Information System to construct a virtual
model of the entire building. Use of CAD blocks to ensure
consistency in text. Collaborated with civil engineers,
structural engineers, and MEP consultants. Processed shop
drawings. Wrote building code review. Rendered a site plan
for the complex. Ensured that the building complied with ANSI
and International Building Code.
*Restorations to Hatboro Borough Hall Building, 2007
The project consisted of removal of an existing stucco
facade on a 19th century school. The stucco was replaced
with a lime-based stucco, which would allow for the building
to breath, and thereby control internal moisture issues. The
building was also re-roofed. Documented the building, wrote
specifications for the project, and dealt with construction
administration.
*Re-Roofing of the Northampton Administration Building, 2008
Consulted with a flat-roof product representative to address
a less than 1/8" slope on an existing building. Built up the
roof to 1/4" slope with use of wood nailers for around the
perimeter of the roof. Mechanical system was also replaced.
Wrote specifications for this project, documented it, dealt
directly with contractors with regards to addressing their
needs.
*Renovations to Wrightstown Township Administration Building,
2006 Fully documented the renovations and schematically
designed the front entrance way in a classical style.
*Various Condominium Declaration Plans
Fully documented and calculated pro-rata shares. Created an
Excel worksheet which calculated the numbers in two different
ways to ensure accuracy and establish efficiency. All numbers
were also calculated and figured out by hand as a way of
checking the system.
