PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
 Successfully completed requirements for Professional LEED AP status, one of only four in a 70-member Architectural Firm. Established a position among the eight per cent of registered Alabama Architects with LEED AP status. Results: Lead the local USGBC Advocacy Committee in a public relations effort to educate local leadership regarding sustainable design guidelines. Currently developing a Home Owner’s Guide for LEED certification to be used both by the local USGBC and Habitat for Humanity for future residential LEED certification.
ï‚· As Assistant Director of UAB Architecture and Engineering Department, managed activities of design professionals in the development of design and construction projects, including project scope development, programming, design, bidding, and contract administration. Result: Eliminated backlog of projects and increased production of entire department.
ï‚· Organized a University Building Assessment Team to review and evaluate code issues, infrastructure conditions, and building envelope characteristics of proposed University property purchases. Result: prevented the misapplication of valuable financial resources for the purchase of unprofitable properties and avoided the expenditure of significant dollars for high maintenance buildings.
ï‚· Developed time saving concepts for Design/Build Services Director. Identified problems with time constraints. Designed solutions and presented written proposal for implementation. Result: Increased DBS Director work efficiency by 15-20% while improving results of customer surveys.
ï‚· As Project Architect for Sherlock, Smith, and Adams, managed hurricane Katrina investigation, damage assessment and physical repairs to the Gulfport, Mississippi Federal Courthouse Building. Result: Successful evaluation identified extensive hurricane and non-hurricane exterior envelope compromises, avoiding costly premature re-occupation of building.
ï‚· Conceptualized, developed and designed Master Plan for new Civic Center for Aurora, Illinois while in private practice. Researched and analyzed existing conditions, identified needed location and translated findings into a program with a unique design solution. Result: Design renewed interest in civic center development and concept was built on identified site.
