PROJECT ARCHITECT
From schematic design through construction administration, provided a broad scope of technical design and detailing in support of several managing architects for wide array of multi-million-dollar projects.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
• Contributed to significant reduction of time and cost for a key client project:
o Leveraged innovation and creativity to redesign two faux smokestacks, 110’ high, 10’ diameter, on a “Riverboat†themed casino project in Las Vegas.
o The stacks transformed, from sheet metal clad structural steel framing, requiring scaffolding, into a series of prefabricated rolled steel plate sections that simply bolted together.
o The rolled plate served as both the structure and the skin, and, subsequent to later remodeling, was unbolted, removed, and sold for reuse by another client.
• Maximizing the use of modern materials, designed a 60’ high dome, scale replica of the facetted, ribbed, clay-tile-covered dome of the Florence, Italy, Cathedral with the same look as original. The dome is prominently located near the main entrance to the “Tuscan†themed facility.
• Facilitated the successful construction for a rural 110-bed regional correctional facility in Bethel, Alaska:
o The remote rural location meant no road access and no poured-in-place concrete or CMU (no batch plant).
o The fabricated steel frame and precast concrete floor panels were barged in, along with bulk materials, for the rest of the construction; during the short season when the Bering Sea is ice free.
o The innovative use of solid cement plaster interior partition walls and steel plate welded to the exterior wall studs, in security areas, allowed construction in this very remote rural location.
• Recognized for consistently flawless technical designs mitigating any claims.
• Conducted extensive research supplying the firm’s technical library with the latest building technology information, including sustainable and alternate energy information.
