ACHIEVEMENTS:
Quality Assurance - Instituted a Quality Assurance Program – in each of the new District restaurants and coached managers to put more attention to customer’s feedback and operations procedures. Result: The next QA was the highest received, 98%, on that a high volume restaurant and a 102% Nation wide record in an old restaurant.
Leadership / Operational Management – Earned the respect / confidence of 835 employees, managers and operators by demonstrating consistent professional excellence, fairness, and the desire to develop people. Result: High operational efficiency and an employee turnover rate under than 4%.
Operational / Process improvements - Implemented an operational process improvement and created the Microfilm Department by digitalizing 150,000 records. Result: saved $35K in monthly rental payments, within two years.
Operation Management - Instituted Process Operations improvements to address high turnover index of a district area, low profits due to high controllable costs and the poor overall operations. Result: net profit increased from 9% to 29% in 6 months.
Organizational Development - A Cost Analysis was used to reduce the part time hours to a range of minimum 18 maximum 22 hours weekly basis. Result: Hourly wages was reduced on 4% year to date, in three months.
Budget Preparation / Management – Developed and managed several operational budgets ranging from $1MM to $12MM by forecasting and controlling the operational expenses and the cost of goods sold to all restaurants units in congruence with strategic plans and unit objectives. Results: Met or exceeded budget goals, producing savings profits of more than 15%.
Vendor Relations / Negotiations – Managed the contract negotiations with the main food supplier of the Caribbean market to gain more bargaining power. Result: 18 operators received a positive impact of 12% of immediate savings.
Media Relations-Negotiated to get more presence on the Media, a contract was signed with Arteaga & Arteaga, one of the best publicity agencies. Result: More TV and Radio ads at prime time were launched with no extra cost, a 33% increase in revenues.
Creative solutions / Planning – Created a New Product Development to solve a unique problem, “The Torpedo†emerged as the first hamburger prepared with “sandwich bunsâ€. Result: Nation Wide sales increased on 30% in the first year.
New Product Development – developed a new product to help the State Health Department, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico with the education against food poison that included CD / DVD programs information. Result: Received the endorsement of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Office of Social Welfare.
Presentations / Seminars - Conducted Seminars on Human Relations and Customer Service for 600 employees of 54 restaurants. Result: success led to presenting a seminar at Ogden, Utah, and turnover was reduced on a 90%.
Employee Training – Presented employee training program to 200+ employees in the Purchasing and Bids Division of the SJ County, by San Juan, Puerto Rico. Result: violations to the Regulations stopped 100%, 25 counties copied the initiative.
Business Management / Development - Prepared a Business Plan for a new business taking all the precautions necessary, against all odds t to get the funds needed. Result: A 504 SBA Loan was approved with $1.4 MM for start up.
Strategic / Proposals / Planning / Vision – Prepared a Business Plan for a mega project of $7.8MM with a complete set of presentations linked with PowerPoint and Excel. Results: The Plan was reviewed, approved and used as a model by the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Rico, and the S.B.A., SBDC Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.

Supervise the finance unit and also perform as Chief Financial spokesperson for the organization. Report directly to the Executive Director and the Secretary of Department of Economics and Development. Also assist the OGP (Budget and Management Office) on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding. Prepare the budget for the Agency to be presented to the Legislature of Puerto Rico. In charge of more than $129 MM on Federal ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funds) in addition to the Annual Federal and State Funds. Participate on each of the five main ARRA Grants Programs Budget Explanation and Proposals.
