07-00 To 04-06 URS Corp. Atlanta, Georgia
FAA Southern Region – Pensacola, Florida
Performed structural design of a one story, steel framed Base Building per IBC 2003. I also designed this building for blast loads generated with a computer program “ConWep†("Conventional Weapons Effects"). ConWep is a collection of conventional weapons effects calculations from the equations and curves of TM-5-855-1, "Fundamentals of Protective Design for Conventional Weapons"
FAA Southern Region – Memphis, Tennessee
Performed structural design of a two story, concrete framed Base Building per IBC 2003. I also designed this building for blast loads generated with “ConWep†and for progressive collapse.
Deer Valley Airport – Phoenix, Arizona
Performed structural design of a 130-foot Air Traffic Control Tower (to cab floor) and Base Building per the International Building Code 2003. The lower portion of the ten sided tower (shaft) is precast concrete and the upper floors are steel framed. The foundation consists drilled shafts.
Front Range Airport – Watkins, Colorado
Performed structural design of a 185-foot Air Traffic Control Tower (to cab floor) and Link Building per the Uniform Building Code. The lower portion of the ten sided tower (shaft) is precast concrete and the upper floors are steel framed. The foundation consists driven steel piles.
Hall County Parks and Leisure Services – Georgia
Performed structural design of 2 story and one story buildings; bottom story made of concrete masonry units and top story made of wood. Also designed dugouts.
FAA Southern Region – Miami Airport – Miami, Florida:
Performed review of another consultant’s structural analysis of using mullions as columns instead of exterior columns.
FAA New England Region – Manchester Airport – Londonerry, New Hampshire:
Performed structural design of a site adapted 145-foot Air Traffic Control Tower (to cab floor) and Base Building per the International Building Code 2000, Uniform Building Code and the BOCA National Building Code. The lower portion of the ten sided tower (shaft) is precast concrete and the upper floors are steel framed with precast exterior wall panels. The foundation is a spread footing supported by vibro-compacted in-situ soil.
FAA Southern Region – Hartsfield International Airport – Atlanta, Georgia:
Performed structural design of a 345.5-foot air traffic control tower (to cab floor) per the International Building Code 2000. The tower shaft is precast concrete and the upper floors are steel framed with precast exterior wall panels and outwardly sloped precast panels at the transition from precast shaft to steel frame. The upper portion of the tower contains the control cab and provisions for a roof mounted ASDE plus four other levels. The foundation consists of a spread footing anchored in solid rock. STAAD was used to analyze for the loading combinations and to produce a mass modal response which was used in the scale model testing of the tower and surrounding structures in a boundary layer wind tunnel. Wind loads resulting from this were used in design.
