Responsibilities: Performed research, electrical engineering design and field support work.
• Two-tier Faraday Cup Design and Analysis Project. Applied to electron-beam welding performance/ efficiency measurements and operator safety. Second tier used to collect backscattered electrons. The induced potential is proportional to the electrons that are inelastically scattered from the metal target. Investigation included a proposed method of measuring the EM radiation from bremsstrahlung using solid-state (tuned) photo-sensors. Work resulted in better calibration of beam focus potential in electron beam welders.
• Developed method based on current balance feedback loop to analyze electron beam stability and scattering. Electron beam & resistance welder stability, measurement & control research.
