Over the past 30 years I have been involved in all aspects of home building and remodeling. I would be considered a master carpenter, not only having an extensive knowledge of the phases of building, but also the knowledge/experience that allows one to see cause and effect of one project as it may relate to another. My experience comes from years of hands on jobs in craftsman related projects. I have been involved in the custom stair industry for 22 years, the last 10 being involved in project management, including sales, service, personnel management and custom design, specifically auto cad design. I have extensive computer skills as well as many general office skills. I am experienced in architectural procedures and have coordinated a good many projects with many different architects as well. The scope of my work has been done in the greater Chicago land area from high end custom to very simple projects.
In addition to stair work I have been involved in other projects outside the stair industry, projects that have allowed me to become more knowledgeable in many aspects of planning and or building. I am very familiar with blue print reading and have been fortunate enough to see many different styles depending on the architect. I am also aware of building codes and how they apply, if not I would certainly find the resource’s to answer the concern.
With the decline of new home building in the country I have found myself needing to take all my experience and put it to good use in a broader sense which I am looking forward to. I would like the opportunity to show how you can put my experience to work for you.
I’m excited about an opportunity such as this. Thank you for taking the time to read this and looking at my resume. I have been looking for an opportunity to relocate to the Pensacola area for some time now as I have parents down there who are ailing as well as its an area I would like to be in.
Sincerely,
Gene P. Marchesi
OBJECTIVE
To find a new fulfilling career in a related field or a career that would allow me to utilize my existing talents as well as develop new ones in order to become an instrumental part of a company that would make me a valuable asset to its customers and all associates involved. To become a member of a valuable team, that at the end of the day, feels productive and satisfied in doing a job well done. While at the same time have thoroughly enjoyed what we do.
FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY
In my tenure as a custom stair designer I have disciplined myself in the art of detail as it can be disastrous if some details were to be missed. However, as any of my references would be able to tell you, it is something I enjoy and pride myself on. You would also find that I enjoy learning and expanding my knowledge in my work, which helps me understand the process better, thus becoming more useful and valuable to myself and my employer
SUMMARY OF ACCOMPLISHMENT
In the early 80’s I started in the trades with a local builder and was interested in building and structure. However the particular builder was not interested in paying. Soon afterwards I was offered a job in a weld shop as a grinder, and very soon I realized I was interested in creating the weld rather than grinding it. And I became a welder for about 3 years learning different applications and technique. I found myself then looking to expand my carpenter skills and went to work in the union for a couple of years rough framing custom homes. From there I wanted to learn the trim portions and so on till I had myself doing the more difficult projects such as stairs and cabinetry. As my employment history will show I spent the bulk of my career in the custom stair industry, moving up through all the aspects till I found myself not only building the most complex of stair systems. Eventually designing and engineering them as well. Along with that the scope of my work would include consulting with builders concerning blue prints and field changes to a structure to assure a realistic design and sales that at peak had me servicing twenty seven different builders.
