I am looking for a senior management opportunity in a large construction company. I have 38 years in Fire & Life Safety with a solid background of experience in construction management (150 man construction department LA) senior project management (from a McDonalds to a $10 million space shuttle launch site) and extensive sales (from one day service jobs to a $6 million dollar retro-fit high-rise). Please review my resume and see if you may have an opportunity for me at your one of your offices.
If you have a large project that needs experienced oversight or one that is having serious margin erosion, I would consider a job specific assignment. I am open to US or International positions.
My former COO and the VP of HR will provide recommendations for me.

Brief overview
My construction career began in 1971 in Portland, Oregon. My initial position was as a union road sprinkler fitter apprentice working on a “cold storage facility†in Payette, Idaho. For the next 2½ years I worked throughout the Pacific Northwest. In 1974 Grinnell elevated me to Foreman’s position and I traveled throughout Oregon and Alaska. As a foreman sprinkler fitter I supervised/installed many different projects including A-FFF, CO2, Halon 13 and pre-action systems. High-rises, aircraft hangers, Intel chip plants, miles of underground piping, warehouse, schools, hospitals and most every vertical market.
In 1985 field supervising and then completing the last 50% as the project manager of a “Shuttle Space Launch†site in California (both detection & suppression). Late 1985 I managed from the ground up a GM automotive plant in Kansas City where we started with a $4 million dollar contract and finished 20 months later with a $10 million dollar contract that exceeded estimated profit by more than $1 million dollars. Corporate handed me a signed contract and budget and turned me loose, where I learned to pay attention to details and push forward hard. Then as a dedicated “special projects manager†for corporate headquarters I traveled wherever they needed me, including managing an BI-B “anechoic chamber†in California with UV/IR detection and several “black works projects†for the military.
I spent one year as a District Service Manger in Oregon (exceeding revenue and profit goals) to gain experience in that area of the business in helping to round out my overall exposure to the business.
Managing a 150+ construction department in Los Angeles and then in private partnerships for twelve years in Seattle has provided me with a well rounded business prospective in managing large profitable operations. My estimating and sales experience has benefited corporate as I oversaw multiple offices. Numerous projects called for my review/approval, from the bases of cost vs. selling price and the district being able to deliver on-time & in budget.
As the Southern Operations Manager for Tyco SimplexGrinnell and then VP/SW Regional Manager for ecfp I have worked through most scenarios in business, including the positives and negatives in mergers & acquisitions. I have enjoyed and been very successful in developing great teams than have lasting strength. I have developed and taught a number of operations managers training sessions in project management, project labor goal setting/tracking, design excellence, scope detail and estimating takeoff. One of my responsibilities was to identify projects that were having margin erosion then determine why, how much and what actions were needed to minimize the impact. I also was the corporate contact when problems escalated beyond the district level with GC’s or AHJ’s. I also have experience in the legal areas of claims, lawsuits and representing the company in depositions. Over my career I have lived in six states through promotions and company relocations. Several years I was flying over 100K miles annually.
