PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
STEVEN D COIL LLC (2006-Present)
Principal
The goal of this small company is to exceed the expectations of every client by offering valuable consulting services.
As principal, I strive to provide superior technical expertise, as well as strong leadership and communication skills to establish a positive and trusting rapport with professionals at every level. It is the cultivation of sound client relationships and the shared goal of achieving objectives that I consider the true measure of business success.
Contracted to perform a $450,000 3-year project within 6 weeks’ time of company start-up. This project involved reviewing the technical requirements of the transmission and substation engineering departments of a major mid-western utility company. Established multiple communication channels with engineers, line personnel, vendors/ suppliers, and manufacturers in order to coordinate the availability of materials onsite to meet construction demands. Resolved any issues that might impact a material being at the job site when needed to meet a tight construction schedule. Developed first-time processes and procedures that created record-keeping efficiencies so that information could be easily accessed and retrieved. Provided weekly status reports to the engineering teams, construction managers, and supply chain. Under my coordination, raised the on-time material availability from
55% to 82% over a 4-state region. This project involved frequent out-of-state travel.
A shorter-term project included “recovery†of a project’s direction on a 69Kv to 115Kv transmission line upgrade after the project’s design and completion schedule became jeopardized. Using more-targeted oversight, problem resolution and communication skills, completed the project to the satisfaction and relief of the client.
AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER (1976-2006)
Columbus Region provides a 60 Hertz alternating current with primary voltages of 7620/13200 volts and 19900/34500 volts.
Various secondary voltages and number of phases supplied depend upon character of load, size, and location.
Residential secondary voltages include 120/240 volts 3w, and in the network area 120/208 volts 3w.
Commercial secondary voltages include 120/240 volts 3w and 4w, 120/208 volts 4w, 240 volt 3w, 480 volt 3w, 277/480 volt 4w.
Engineering Technician / Estimator Supervisor
Simultaneously supervised two Service Centers’ engineering design/estimator teams that served approximately 230,000-metered residential and commercial customers. Provided leadership to these high-performing engineering design/estimator teams consisting of eight technical professionals. Guided and prioritized both centers’ technical performance while continuing estimator activities. Prepared and managed a $600K budget for office and personnel needs. With management, created and apportioned a yearly budget of $1.5M for distribution and maintenance projects. Established individualized plans to develop employee skills and knowledge as needed, ensuring the contribution of each by listening to their ideas, needs, and recommendations. Assumed leadership role during storm recovery to coordinate the assessors, crew leaders, company line crews and contract line crews.
